Rabbitohs fullback charged with drug dealing

By Matthew Thompson
April 29 2002

South Sydney rugby league fullback Damien Mostyn has been suspended from the team after being arrested on Friday night for alleged drug-dealing.
The 23-year old father from Mascot has been charged with drug-dealing on an "on-going basis", said a police spokesman.
News of Mostyn's arrest hit the club's management on Saturday night.
"He's basically stood down [from the team] pending the police investigation," said Souths CEO Paul Dunn.

Mr Dunn will be meeting at 3.30 this afternoon with Mostyn and George Mimis - a business partner of Mostyn's manager Darryl Mather, who is overseas.

The Daily Telegraph reported today that Mostyn, who joined the born-again Rabbitohs this year after stints with the Roosters and Sharks, allegedly tried to sell ecstasy tablets to undercover police, and was then charged at Hurstville police station.
Detectives allegedly found a quantity of ecstasy on him, the paper said. Mostyn was granted conditional bail and would appear in Sutherland Local Court on May 23, said a police spokesman.
