Any substance to the Jennings rumours?

Losing RTS, Maloney and Jennings at once would make this year a complete write-off unless we've got a Hayne up our sleeve.

I can't figure out how they couldn't offer RTS decent coin if they were offloading Maloney, and if Jennings goes too it makes even less sense.

If true our backline is looking very 2009 and we'll struggle to make the 8.

It is puzzling. They were probably looking ahead to the upcoming upgrades/extensions such as Cords and Horrie for example. I think they just f**ked it up with RTS. Didn't expect a rival to offer him 800k I guess.

Very weird behaviour from our management. I'm struggling to see where points are gonna come from.

Would be devastating to lose all of Maloney Jennings and RTS in the one hit. Those three would have combined to directly or indirectly score a hell of a lot of our points last year.

I'm still at a loss to understand how on earth they let RTS go. He did cite family as the primary but from what I understand his farther and younger brother have remained in Sydney. is this correct?

He has the potential to be anything and in my opinion is worth more than 800k on present form.

In saying that maybe ol uncle nick knows something we don't. perhaps the only reason he would let him go would be because he was extremely confident of signing Hayne? one can hope.. haha

For heaven's sake, Hayne is committed to the NFL at least until August 2016. He is registered with SF 49ers and unless they cut him and then no other NFL team takes him in late August, he is going to stay in the NFL. Nick Polites knows this.

The real problem is that too many people rate Boyd Cordner too highly. Michael Jennings is a much more important strike weapon than Cordner. Moreover Dale Copley is not yet in Jenning's class.

This is what the salary cap does to successful teams, it punishes them and means they have to offload players eventually. At least our management is getting on the front foot and being proactive with who they are willing to let go (RTS aside). Time will tell if the decisions are the right ones.

I really don’t understand the furore over Jennings leaving. He was always going to go after 2016 when we upgraded other players and/or went back strong into the market. Copley is an able replacement and will do a job.

It will take time for the back line to gel and fullback is a potential massive issue. However, our forward pack is first class and our bench immense. Goal kicking is a potential issue although I assume Hastings can do it?

Look on the bright side, no one rates us again!!

Trent said when we lost RTS "we're the Roosters, we'll be fine", same here.

Chook.

The Roosters ran 13th in 2012, 11th in 2011, last in 2009, 10th in 2007, 14th (of 15) in 2006 and 9th in 2005. Every other year this century they've made the finals. At times they've been like a yo yo, especially between 2007 and 2013.

It seems to me they've found a way to back-load/front-load contracts to comply with the letter of the law, and which gives them a star studded side some years, but which means they have to clear out most of their stars periodically. Having just had 3 very successful seasons in succession where it must be said they appeared able to sign seemingly every star player on the market, it appears that time has come again. This I suspect is why Jenko is being moved on.

Six mediocre to poor seasons out of 16 isn't bad, but it seems possible that will be added to this year.

We had one big offseason between 12 and 13 and have barely registered in the transfer market since...
