Im trialling some amp sim software for the studio, on PC not Mac, although a Mac is what ill eventually have to play with.

Im trialling Guitar Rig, Amplitube, and Peavey Revalver III.

I like Rig and Revalver as they have better control over latency. The cabinet combos and guitar sounds are endless.

Anyone out there use these packages?

I use the standard ones that come with pro tools.
sort of genric , in that they are not labelled marshall or fender twin etc etc.
I get some pretty good sounds

i use amplitube 3 and it is excellent, i run it through garageband which also allows me to add the built in apple loops on top. amplitube 3 has like billions of different pedal/amp/cab setups built in or you can make your own. theres a pedal on there called a slicer that is awesome, i highly recomend amplitube 3

and no i dont work for amplitube

Yeah I like it excep I get cutout when i play live through it. Guitar Rig and revalver dont give me that. Im using the ASIO4ALL drivers and have adjusted Latency as much as i can. Its looks great and Id use it if it didnt break up for me.

I use a mbox 2 with pro tools.

I mic up an amp or just run my guitar through my effects rack or just use a mix of the built in stuff and my stuff.
Have no idea how to reproduce that sound later on.
Don't any problems with Latency .
I used to have to adjust it with other programs but pro tools seems to have fixed it.
I have a kick arse HP computer that does help.
I also play an acoustic thought my shure vocal mic and get a bloody result.

After I have recorded it I go to the built in gear a select an acoustic guitar setting.
Then double or triple track it.
Sounds awsome...crystal clear.

I love it.

I hear you can get some pretty cool ones on your iPhone. Haven't tried them out, but it'd be heaps good to carry round your recordings on your phone that easily.

with amplitube (and i guess otherr software) you can just plugged a expression pedal into the computer and you can use it for wah, volume (ive been just using my volume pots) or pitch in real time. the built in pitch shifter isnt as good as a digitech whammy but its still pretty decent
