A scheduling clash has arisen for our Round 25 match against the Penrith Panthers on Friday 30 August with the Sydney Swans also booked to play at ANZ Stadium on the same day.

We are working with all parties on achieving the best possible resolution that takes into consideration the requirements of our football department, members, fans, corporate partners and the broadcasters.

We will be in touch as soon as we have more information.

Regards,

Raelene Castle
Chief Executive
Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs

Play it at Belmore!

Bulldogs v Swans in a hybrid game. Garry Jack jnr. would be their only good player.

Surely when the scheduling was being done for round 25 the dumbf**ks at channel 9 would have been able to identify this BEFORE they picked their games?

Stupid pricks

The VFL hadn't publicly revealed the schedule for that final round until today. We did 3 weeks ago.

Swans -> SCG.

There was speculation ANZ Stadium would not be available on Friday night for the Grand Final rematch between the Swans and the Hawks because of a clash with the NRL's round 25 Canterbury Bulldogs versus the Penrith Panthers.

Tickets can already be purchased for the NRL match, which remains scheduled for that night, but the Bulldogs say the game can still be moved.

Why are we pandering to them? ANZ's primary tenants are Canterbury and South Sydney. They must get precedence over the two fumbleball games a year they have there.

Piss off fumbleball.

Move it to Belmore!!! Won't happen though and we should not be giving way to them at all

If you do, your new CEO needs to grow a (metaphoric) pair.

If the NRL scheduled it first and the VFL has just come in over the top and coerced ANZ into having it that night, they can piss right off.

But if the VFL scheduled it with ANZ first, then ANZ, CH9, Canterbury and the NRL are collectively morons.

I predict the NRL will cave and they'll move the match to Thursday night (both teams play the previous round on Friday so it would be an equal 6-day turnaround).

Its actually ANZ who would be pushing to have the dogs relocate their game. They are the only ones who stand to benefit from keeping it, and also the most likely to receive complaints if the AFL game is moved given it is advertised as part of their membership package.

This is why moving more teams to ANZ will not work. These sorts of clashes will happen more and more, and the surface - which is already shithouse to begin with - will be completely destroyed if upwards of 6 games are played there every weekend

The VFL released its schedule for that round TODAY. They could have easily held it on Saturday or Sunday.

Im not an advocate for more games at ANZ , but the swans only play three games a year there.

There's hardly going to be "more and more" clashes if that continues to be the case.

Also , the dogs match is advertised as part of their membership package as well.

I bet ANZ's preference would be to keep both matches.

How would there possibly be 6 matches a week there?

Apparently they're looking at swapping it with Tigers v Souths currently scheduled for 5:30 Saturday.

Great idea NRL. Because the last time Souths v Tigers was on Friday night it was a close one...
