Seeing the players say they hope they're not alienating the fans with their actions I just thought I'd try a poll to see what the opinion is.

Butterfield has lost my vote for a good-bloke. What an absolute sham, I thought the players saw the Dally M's as an honour but obviously not.

The players undoubtedly do still see the dally m awards as an honour. The fact that they would give up that honour just goes to show how much they believe in these issues.

What a load of crap. On August 5th it was agreed by both parties that November 1st would be the deadline for the culmination of negotiations.

Now less, than 4 weeks after, and less than one third of the way through the time frame, they have jumped up and said not enough negotiation or concession hss been made.

What a load of crap. I'll write more in another thread if I can find one dedicated to the subject

It was originally November 2000, and then Moffat changed his mind a bit like the strategic plan.

Then it was November 2001... Moffat had quit by then.

November 2002 was the next one but new CEO David Gallop wasn't ready and too busy in the off season.

Get the idea? Some employers don't actually want their staff under collective agreements.

Do you blame them? Especially given it would almost certainly have salary increases through the cap going up each year included.

I don't neccesarily blame the players for having the shits, although some of their demands are pretty stupid. Anyone who has seen from the inside a CBA/CA/EBA negotiation happen though knows both parties always come up with some ridiculous demands. It's much easier to just sign a personal agreement withn the company :)

Boycotting the Dally M's was a bad move though i must admit.

The bit I liked, was Butterfield, and even Ricky Stuart, complaining that the Salary Cap hasn't been adjusted according to the CPI.

Why should it? Pay's went up over 300% in the Super League fight, and even though they have come down, they are still well above what they should be getting.

I'd like to see someone project earnings and the CPI from 1993, and see which one comes out in front.

I have no doubt the CPI will be lower.

Not neccesarily, I don't think they would be stupid enough to follow Major League Baseballs lead and actually strike from playing.

It's just a Union & company management having a spat... Nothing more. The agreement will be signed late and everyone will get onto playing the game again.

the prob atm is that it seems that butterhead is trying to prove he's got a bigger dick than the nrl. I'm amazed that he had the audacity to go about it the way he did. Subsequently if he's gonna call strike action cos the nrl doesnt want to pay out 4 years if a player dies (which is far from standard in 99% of industries) i hate to have seen what he would have tried to done if the nrl didnt approve the minimum wage

That condition above is the one I was talking about being one of the ones I see as stupid.... Do you honestly think the bean counters in the NRL are any different though?

Both sides are jsut sparing, flexing their muscle... They won't strike from anything truely serious.

They are not allowed to strike anyway. It is a breach of the NRL contract which is a standard document.

3. PLAYER’S OBLIGATIONS
3.1 General Obligations
The Player will:
(a) whenever and wherever reasonably required, and to the best of his ability and skill, play the Game for the Club in the NRL Competition, in such team and grade as the Club shall from time to time specify, and in Representative Matches and any Other Competition;
(b) report promptly for, and participate fully in, all pre-season and post-season matches and all training sessions conducted by or participated in by the Club, for the purpose of participating in the NRL Competition, and in Representative Matches and any Other Competition;

So it's a moot point anyway.

Those Shark logos you have on their Frenzy, I heard the Sharks are changing their logo and getting rid of the star?

The Sharks will have a totally new strip for 2004 - that includes a new logo I am told. It was indicated to me that the new strip will have black featured predominantly and that it was due for release on or around November 10

The logos I have are just ones I made for fun

I quite like the Sharks logo in your avatar, the Shark looks very mean and hungry. 8)
