Are the Tigers Management Awake?????

Blind Freddy can see that the Tigers main problems are lack of go forward, lack of second phase play and lack of line breaking ability not to mention a lack of a long kicking game. The kicking would be so much of a problem if the go forward was there!
It`s good to see we atleast in the market for some big names, but there are plenty of lesser known players with plenty of potential getting picked up by other clubs underneath our nose!
1.Vice Mellars-Big,strong and fast young centre who has been signed by the Sharks after making it known he was on the lookout for a new club several months ago.
2.Marty Oborn-22y.o prop previously playing with Magpies feeder club Ourimbah.Coach Kyle White stated and made it known to the Magpies/Tigers that this bloke was the best prop outside the NRL months ago.Nothing was done about it and now the Sharks have signed him too!
3.David Howell-Although he is still contracted to the Dragons this bloke wouldn`t be a hard target as he is on minimal money and not getting a fair crack in 1st grade. He regularly scores 2-3 tries in Premier League, has proven that he can make an impact in 1st grade,is big, strong and fast with a great change of direction and anyone who saw him carve up the Balmain Premier League side 2 weeks ago will agree he is a super talent!
4.Why isn`t Jeff Lima being made an offer too good to refuse? This bloke is potentially one of the most powerful runners in the game. After missing out on Frank Pritchard,it would be foolish not to keep this bloke under lock and key!

Those players aren't top shelf so i don't know why you are complaining.....and Jeff, if you quit panicking, is most probably already being looked after

Mate I think you have forgotton how hard it is to play first grade. It seems if someone shows a bit of talent in the reggies should be signed...please a bit of reality.

Mate you don`t have to break the bank to improve the team.As the Dragons stated about Riddell and Kite who they picked up as virtual unknowns.

There is no doubt there is plenty of talent running around in the lower ranks but what you need to realise is that we have plenty of talent which at the moment just plain and simply isn't ready for the top grade yet.

I agree we need to keep our eyes open and continue to build and add players to our current lists but it is easier said than done

Lima I don't know why he hasn't resigned but if he has been offered a contract he won't be going anywhere he loves this place and has told everyone he will stay even on match payments so I wouldn't worry all that much about him

Howell I thought is contracted to the Dragons for another 2yrs I might be wrong but I thought I heard some where he had resigned with them before june 30

Mellars I know nothing about to be honest but have read a few good raps on him - It was like last year when I was trying to get the Tigers to sign both Matt Kennedy and Karl Temate from the Warriors they had a look at them and tried to go for MK but KT they didn't bother about for reasons I don't know about - It was like 2yrs ago when I was told about Sione Faumina that this kid will be huge in years to come and well I put a little note to the Tigers they looked at him then but said after watching 1 game they couldn't see what all the fuss was about

I guess the problem is not as such with the managment but more so with the scouts who spend what time they can to look and review talent and then try and sign them up there and then - with our club we report back to Sheens and then offer a deal which puts us way behind the rest of the sides and this to me needs to be addressed

Honestly Phil, I don't see why you make a big deal out of Matt Kennedy? I've seen him rise through the ranks at the Knights and the guy is a borderline first grade/premier league player. If Michael Goodridge didn't get injured at the beginning of the year, I dare say Kennedy would be spending most of his time in reggies. I'd swap Kennedy for Small in a heartbeat ;-)

Great, everyone was like, how fast can we steal Sims, Matty Head, etc, and now you've noticed David Howell, my favourite PL player #-o

It is ....I suppose disappointing could be the word I'm looking for here.....that there doesnt seem to be much happening regarding player signings at the moment......hearing quite a bit from 3 or 4 clubs in particular, but I gotta keep in mind that the majority, like us, are realizing that right now, when the markets dry, isnt the time I suppose to be buying players just for the sake of it.
That said, some good news, any good news would be welcome right now WestsTigers...Helloooooooo?????

Has it occured to anyone that Wests Tigers might not have the funds available to go into the market and purchase every Tom, Dick and Harry they desire? This Joint-Venture's catch phrase is that it is builiding for a successful future, therefore investing in its talent juniors. As supporter's we sometimes look at a different view that it is integral that the club must sign quality esyablished 1st Grader's that will take us closer to a premiership, but its alot more complicated than that. Sheens obviously has a plan, management and the board have invested their trust in him. Let's see if it pays off.

Hmmmmm, this is why your club will never be a success, you cannot just trust that Sheens has the right plan, as when he doesn't he will just leave and you will be back to square one just like with your last fruitcake coach. The board couldn't organise a f**k in a brothel & there is no money in the coffers..... doom and gloom.

Tigger to an extent i agree with you. There's no guarantee Sheens plan will work. The board and management have placed their trust in Sheens 'hoping' that it will work, and bring success in the long term with it. But nothing is for certain. Baa had a 5 year plan, and didn't get to see it out, Sheens has a similar one focusing on the 'youth', and bringing them in slowly etc, but with his continuous ambiguous team selections and signings, it doesn't suggest and quick fix or strategic overhall of the Joint-Venture's performance. That's a gamble this club has taken. Hopefully it pays off.

I am just stating the obvious for both Western Suburbs and Balmain fans that have followed the clubs for a number of years..... The fact is that the base hasn't been right for a long time at either club in relation to the football operations and both clubs have just tried different strategies every few years with varying levels of failure.

And Simon, you are pulling bullsh1t out again. The club has very little money and no support from any of the leagues clubs to put in more money than their agreed grants. The sponsorship money is almost completely linked to performance which has just gone from ok to sh1thouse. The past two home games have really been the only financial success and how many of those campbelltown tickets were paid for?
