Are you sick of dumb players?

This Gasnier incident has really brought it to a head for me. I follow rugby league with a passion, but im heavily involved in rugby union. All i ever seem to be doing when i see my rugby mates is justifying the actions of league players. When the bulldogs were vindicated i thought i would be able to support league proudly. NOW THIS! How stupid are the players! I mean i would love to rip mark gasniers head of, i would love to scream abuse at him. HOW DUMB can he be with all the recent troubles. He are some of the incidents over the past few years that i can remember:
* Fittler being caught drunk after a kangaroos bonding session in sydney
* Noa Nandruku having his canberra contract ripped up after having a big night and turning up drunk to a sponsors function the next day
* Craig Gower exposing himself on a kangaroos bonding night
*Chris Walker at this years SOO camp
* Mark Gasnier this year
* The "Poo" in the shoe by julian oneil
* The casino toilet as done by julian oneil (Im sure he had troubles in the UK, and at the western reds)
* Darrel Trindal on numerous occasions.
* Adrian Morley almost not being let back into Australia this year because he got caught drink driving in england in the off season

DO THE PLAYERS CARE???
I see a number of major issues that are leading to these problems

(1) The players have too much time and money. The players only play football. So they turn up to training and then have the day off is they arent at a sponsors function. This just leads to trouble. The money issue is also a big thing. You have young blokes from the age of 18-32 with heaps of money and they are throwing it away and are not thinking.
(2) The media attention. These are things that probably any normal 20 year old kid is doing, but because of heavy media attention they get punished. Trevor Gillmister raised a great point in last sundays telegraph. In a NSW rugby super 12 game a couple of weeks ago there was a brawl between two players after the game, one of them had been sent off, and had showered and changed and attacked another player after the game. If this had happened in league then it would have gone on for ever!!!!

I am sick of the dumb players actions, which make me embarrased to follow league. I wish i could kick them in the head sometimes. However they are only young blokes under a heap of pressure so i feel for them. PLEASE GUYS, NOT ONLY FOR MY SAKE BUT THE GAMES< PLEASE NO MORE STUFF UPS

They should take the advice of mothers everywhere.

Don't do anything you don't want splashed over the front page of the newspaper.

Some of them think they're all that and hence can treat whoever they want however they want. Reality. Goto Victoria and nobody would know who the f**k you are.

Make them work for f**k's sake. Dopey players Im sick of them.

Sorry, there are a whole heap of things that the rugby union types have done in Canberra... Andrew Walker... and a couple of others... and frankly I can't even remember their names because I dislike union and wouldn't remember their names... but one just stole a taxi and another is involved in a punch up in a local bar....

But there is no where near the same coverage by the media.

The AFL has had a lot of stuff happen but again nowhere near the coverage.

What gives? Why is the media looking to attack league like this, whereas the media gives a free ride to AFL and Union?

I am sick of it. I think a lot of it is overblown and free rides are being given to other codes while different standards are being applied to League.

Hehe...don't read anything into it, but the Taxi incident was Henari Veratau. Both he and Andrew Walker went to the Brumbies straight from the Roosters. Maybe they teach better behavioural skills in those private schools!

Andrew Walker originally came from union......

Really? My bad then. I always thought he played league as a junior. Oh well, he did play 3 years at the Dragons and 5 years at the Roosters. Plenty of time to pick up some bad habits. :p

They should learn to realise their responsibilities to the game a bit more

Every code has dumb footy meatheads. But the fact that RL is the no1 game in a big city with many rumour/gossip mongerers does not go well together

Im not defending the stupidity of many players, but they are under the microscope 25/7

Cheers,
Moffo

Players in general are pretty dense and don't seem to learn from these indescretions. A good start to cleaning up all this would be for players to get part-time jobs in order to put their spare time to constructive use. I just wonder what will the next scandal to come out? :?

Andrew Walker played for Randwick RU in 1991, before joining St George and then Easts, and then returning to Union. Not that it matters but I hope that clears things up.
