Areas with a lack of players in CRL?

A strange question, but I'm trying to find areas which would be looking for players for next season. We've had interest from one of our guys here in the US as to going to Australia next season to develop his game. If this works, we'd want to try and help someone new each year to help grow both thier own game and the game in Iowa. Any suggestions for areas, in which there may also be jobs available?

Probably your best bet would be the Newcastle or Illawarra comps in NSW or the Gladstone or Mackay comps in QLD. Those areas have a lot of mining jobs available and have strong country competitions. Quite a few former NRL players play in these comps. They also have reserve grade comps if it's more the level you are looking for.

Not that these areas are short of players though, they are amongst the healthiest competitions in the bush DUE to the mining, should still get a start though somewhere. Might have to put his hand up to play for one of the lesser sides though lol.

The answer to which country areas are short of players is that.... everywhere is short of players.

As for finding a job, it depends on what he is capable of. The idea that anyone can walk into a mining job is a complete myth. Even in places where mines are popping up all the time there are no gaurantees that you can get a job. The idea that mines are good for RL is also a myth. Most areas where there are mines have massive problems getting miners to commit to RL because of the risk of injury and/or because of shift work. If a bloke wants to come to a country area and play, as long as he has the right visa he would be able to find work one way or another. But don't assume it will be in mining.
