Ashley Alberts To Make Nrl Debut For Sea Eagles

Dashing young Queensland centre Ashley Alberts will make his NRL debut for the Manly Sea Eagles in Saturday's Aussie Stadium clash against South Sydney.

Alberts has had a frustrating time returning to League after a shoulder reconstruction last year but has gradually worked his way back to peak fitness and a subsequent crack at the NRL.

Alberts has played several games in the Premier League and impressed with his speed and agility. A former Australian Junior Kangaroo, Alberts has played with North Queensland and the Brisbane Broncos. He was recommended to Manly by the club's assistant coach Dennis Moore.
With Ben Kennedy and Steve Menzies unavailable because of State of Origin selection, suspensions to props Kylie Leuluai and Brent Kite, a shoulder injury to Daniel Heckenberg and an injury to centre Terry Hill, the Sea Eagles are digging deep into their depth for the Rabbitohs clash.
Manly's NRL side to play South Sydney at Aussie Stadium on Saturday is:
Brett Stewart, Scott Donald, Ashley Alberts, Paul Stephenson, Chris Hicks, Michael Witt, Michael Monaghan (c), Jason King, Chad Randall, Mark Bryant, Sam Harris, Anthony Watmough, Luke Williamson.
Replacements: Shayne Dunley, Phil Moorwood, Jim Curtis, Nathan Tutt.

I reckon our full strength PL side could give Souths a run for their money.

Confident of a win, Alberts to score a hatrick.

One of the Worst sides named in a while...Hopefully Watmough goes on a rampage like Andrew Ryan did against us last year when the selectors didn't retain him...

Chileman - have you seen much af flash?

ive seen him play 4 games now and he is a class or 5 above matai. He will be our best centre by a long way at years end narring another injury.

PS not having a go, just the matai call indicated that you havnt noticed how good flash is

Alberts is by far the best centre at the club.

I'm looking for Kingy to really step up this week. For the past few weeks he has needed a handbag to match his form. Especially seeing though he is the only first grade prop playing.

Matai is solid at best! Our team this week is not unlike the one that ran around for most of 2004. Will be interesting to see if we have improved.

Alberts is a gun and I am very excited about his prospects. His PL games have been good and he looks all class!

Reading around the Mixo fans are pretty confident of an upset!

Chile - it did sound that way.

Flash absolutly carved up the cougars in the first half scoring a double and putting creary in for 2 and setting up a few more breaks. His defence is good as well, certainly i would say better than steppa and matai.

If he plays 80 mins against souths like he did the cougars he will get 2 and Hicks a hattrick.

Very nimble footed - similar to bowen, good acceleration and a decent top speed, would prob be 4th over the hundred in satdys team.

From his play it seems that confidence is the only thing holding him back.

Steppa will be dropped when tezza returns IMO.

Ashley Alberts played three games for North Queensland in 2002, and scored a try against Canberra in Round 11.
