I hope it's ok me posting in this section, if not, Mods feel free to move wherever appropriate.
If anyone can offer any suggestions, I'd be most interested and appreciative.
I'm involved with an U18 junior side in a local competition. We have some talented young footballers in our side, some who actually play junior rep footy and have been pursued by certain clubs for the new U20 comp next year.
The reason for my post though, is that despite all the talent that these boys have (even those not playing junior reps), our record in only a touch above .500. It seems the whole team have a problem listening and following instructions.
Seems to be a tricky age for coaching footballers at this level. The boys are of the age where if you upset or annoy them, those who dont want to pursue a career in football wont turn up, which in turn ruins it for evaryone else. Coaches and training staff included.
I think some discipline is needed and needs to be delivered without souring the team chemistry or treading on too many toes.
Has anyone else had a similar isssue? How did you deal with it?
Thanks guys. ;-)
