Aubusson, Friend, Threatening...

...Minichiello’s appearances record (302) for the club, set in 2014. Aubusson, who’s 32 this year & under contract until the end of 2019, is sitting on 265 matches, while Friend, turning 29 in 2019, is on 240.

Do you think the record will tumble? Do you want it to?

I would love Aubo to get it but I think this will be his last year and he won't quite get to 300 although it will be a great story if he did.

Jake would have to play at least through 2021 to hit 300 and break the record which I give him a decent chance to do.

It doesn't bother me if the record falls, it is an honour to have 300 game one club players. I did think Mitchell Pearce would easily break the record and possibly play 400 games for us but we all know how that worked out...

Looking at our squad, other players with a chance to do it are

Latrell - 72 games at just 21 years of age. There is every chance he plays another 10 years plus for us
Cordner - 150 games at age 26. I don't think his body will allow him to get there

Radley is also a smokey but early days there.

It would indeed be quite a story if Aubusson broke the record in his final year, given he’d have played 38 matches to do it :wink:

It’s open for conjecture for the moment.

I don’t think I want the record broken for a while, to be honest. Minichiello’s my favourite Rooster of all-time.

I would have no problem with Aubo breaking the record. He would have to be the most unheralded player to reach the 300 game milestone.

It would be a wonderful story.

Friend will definitely get there.

And I think Aubusson will, too, as I expect him to play on in 2020.

Both are club legends and it'd be great to have two more additions to the one club 300 gamers group - Ricko, Mini, Aubo, Friend... and we can only dream that Latrell, Cords and Radley will join them.

Just on Aubo, how good was his finals series? His defence in the Prelim was legendary and his all round performance in the GF was just as good.

Love that man.

Yep he was incredible through the finals and I can think of no more deserving player to hold the record than him, as much as I love Mini and Ricko.

I wonder how far Mini’s record would’ve gone if he didn’t have all those back issues?

From memory he missed just about the entirety of the 06, 07 and 08 seasons with the back issue? Then 09 he broke his ankle?

That's an easy 100 games and he could well have been the first to 400 if not for those terrible injuries.

Thing is though, if he'd played an extra 60-100 games through those bad years, would the rest of his body still have held up by 2013? So much time off the field could have extended his career rather than crippled it, in some ways
