gee it seemed like there were a lot of aussie and kiwi accents in those scottish, welsh and irish teams

on ch 10 news there was an item about it

the RLWC might have copped flak

but the RUWC isnt much better

gee i wish more media outlets would do the same as ch 10 and report the 'world' cup for what it really is

Difference is that they live and play in those countries. How many of the lebanese team live and play in that country?

I can only speak for the Irish team but there's only one Aussie accent there AFAIK, Keith Gleeson. And he was born in Dublin, then grew up in Sydney.

having one brother play for one nation and another one playing for another nation

shows just how ridiculous the RUWC is

can you imagine if matthew johns played for wales while andrew played for australia how stupid that would look

Difference is that they live and play in those countries. How many of the lebanese team live and play in that country?

If I move to morocco tomorrow and play footy there for a while it does not make me a morrocan

the fact is the lebanese league team was filled with

..........................

You guessed it LEBANESE PLAYERS not PLAYERS WHO ONLY QUALIFY ON RESIDENCY

over half the players were born there and most had very strong connections with lebanon

not like cockbains brother and other yawnionites playing for other countries

Ahhh dimboy they didn't qualify via residency, the qualified via the grandparent / parent / born there rule.

And as for league families, the minichello's (sp), the Vagana's, the Puleatua's, hell even the Walkers could all end up playing each other IF there was a League world cup.

What if you married a Moroccan lady and settled there permanently?

We can only wish (I pity the poor woman though)

On that subject - we didn't have much of a problem with Tatiana Gregoriava during the Olympics.

And didn't. Look we all know the league cup had it's farcical elements, but so does the yawnion one, despite the spin.

I can't actually believe people are comparing the RLWC and the RUWC.

There were Maori and Aboriginal teams in the RLWC for crying out loud. And all of 4 actual test playing nations!

COME ON! Even people who hate union must be able to see rationality here!

Don't hold your breath. It would appear that rationality and mungo supporters are mutually exclusive.
As for Cockbain playing for Wales. He married a welsh lass and decided to play pro Rugby while exploring Europe. He has been a permanent resident of Wales for more than three years and qualifies on the basis of residency. He did not rely on the Grandparent rule.
If u want to make comparissons with the Mungo World joke then please explain the Lebanese disaster. All residents of Campsie. The South Africans ( all Rugby men) were offered a free trip and a rushed week of mungo lessons.
In the USA there are over 500 clubs playing RUGBY but only five teams playing Mungo ball. Gee there is a real comparisson there.

I think Adrian Morley's brother might be playing for Wales this year

Chris Morley has been playing for Wales since 1995. Adrian played for England since 1996. The Morleys also qualify for Ireland too.

In RLWC 2000 Tony Puletua played for NZ Kiwis, brother Frank played for Toa Samoa. Logan Swann played for NZ Kiwis, his cousins Anthony and Willie (they are brothers) played for Toa Samoa.

Oh wow so it's 500 to 8 instead of 500 to 5. Real difference there.

And I'm sorry I'll admit I confused the Aboriginal team with the World 7's.

yeah

there was definitely no aboriginal side in the last RLWC

but if there was it would be more competitive than over half those nations in the yawnion world cup
