Gibbs should have been there instead of Payten.

Chris Heighington go and play for the Poms mate Australian selectors wouldn't have a clue must be the same idiots that pick the NSW team. Play alongside Gareth Ellis and Sam Burgess not bad team mates to have in the trenches. Thanks for a wholehearted effort again mate, all the best for the future.

I was totally against the idea of Heighno using the English link to play for the poms but if the form he has shown this season doesnt even gain him what is in most cases just a token selection in the train on squad im all for it. The guy has been the most consistant performer for most of the year and obviously has no rep future here if the selectors can not or do not want to recognise it.
The main reason id like to see him play for the poms now is so he can embarrass our stupid ancient old selectors.

I'm thinking maybe he didn't get picked because he threatened to go to England.

He deserves to be there on form, but the selectors have history with not selecting players who go to England.

Going to england to play in the Superleague?

They don't really have history there, it's always been a case of there been a satisfactory replacement in the wings back here, so they went with that instead to minimise disruptions etc.

Heighington would be the only person I can think of who is eligible to play for England and Australia. If the selectors don't want him in the Australian side, then I'm all for him jumping ship and playing for the Poms.

Again, I'll say this. The English pack sh*ts on the Aussie one. That said, with the numpty they have in charge, who knows what they'll do.

Gibbs is probably a victim of Sheens' reluctance to use a lot of props, he'll probably only run three. That and the fact he's roundly disliked by many in the NRL. Although, when you're disliked for being a niggly hard-arse, I can't think of many better to play against the massive packs we'll run into. He's been arguably the best prop this year, and will suit Australia's grinding, "wait and see" style. He deserves a spot ahead of our two blokes, if not nearly every prop in Aus ATM.

I reckon we'll run Gaz and Tonga in the centres.... there's not really anyone left.

That is a good point simmo and something i wouldnt put past the selectors. As for going to England simmo, im not sure if you and i are speaking about the same thing. Heighno was only talking of rep football for England and not full time super league.

Yeah, I wasn't clear. What I meant was, if I was coach/selector of any team, at any level, and someone said "You better pick me or I'll go elsewhere", I'd probably tell them to go piss off.

He deserves to be at least in the train-on squad, but I think he may have shot himself in the foot here.

Cool ,, just when u mentioned that they have a history of not picking players from their comp, which wouldnt apply in this case. But its very possible the selectors would have thought the way u spoke of, the only explanation i can think of as to why he wouldnt be picked.
