Really excellent piece, everyone should watch! (only 2 minutes long) I am still in shock that an Aussie mainstream media outlet would report on anything outside NRL! Kudos to them.

My only gripe is the headline. To say 'Aussies' are building it is a bit unfair on the locals that have been at it since 2002.

.

Eh, its like a news article saying “2000 dies in a fire including 2 Australians”
(“Oh no, not 2 Australians!!!”)

We associate with “our own”. If thats what it takes for Serbian RL to get noticed,
I wont complain.

Bigger picture, teams like this should be getting invites to participate in NRL9s and pre-season trials. It would mean nothing to the Aussie guys, but it would be huge for the guys in emerging nations...

Publicity of a positive nature for rugby league overseas, should be applauded. Regardless of Aussie involvement.

Two Australians are planning a Serbian invasion of Western Europe by creating a formidable Rugby League club in the Balkans nation and want to test its might against some of the strongest sides in the northern hemisphere.

Agreed, and I did applaud it and give them kudos for the report, just a minor gripe. Was great to hear from Phil Economidis too, after years in the rugby league wilderness.

Very few people will realise that there was RL in Serbia before Kleyweg and Economidis but as you say a bit of poetic licence is OK if that’s what it takes to get the story out there.

It wasn’t government that screwed RL in Yugoslavia and Italy. It was our old “friend” rugby union.
