Australia have beaten SL in the first ODI of the series.

After posting 262 from their 50 overs, the home team were bowled out well short for 173.

The destroyer?

None other than Brad Hogg who claimed 5-41.

Well done Hoggy

Good game, but I crashed before the SL got to bat.

The Silly Wankers tried to spin the Aussies out, which they have been very successful at in the past, but the wicket did virtually nothing.

Only 10 overs or so, bowled by their medium pacers.

Good to see Hoggy do well against a team that can play spin bowling very well.

Makes a mockery of the Australian selectors refusal to play him against India in the recent series in Australia.

Well batted. Symonds finished with 36* with a SR of 100, and 2 50s for Gilly and Punter.

Gillespie bowled very tight - 1-14 of 6 overs.

Good on Australia and Gilly once again and Hoggy.

I didn't even know that it was being played last night, was it on Foxtel?

For arguments sake Symonds scored 36 from 27 ;-)

They only played him against the Zimbots, and I though he did OK, when our seamers were not doing so well against India, expecially when Laxman got his 3 tons in a week.

Not wanting to be a killjoy, but the batsmen Hogg got out were no's 7,8,9,10,11. Not the amazing feat it was made out to be. Still he did bowl well though.

Good effort by the boys. I'm just mega upset that there's no coverage of even the tests on radio, cos I'm moving somewhere without cable tv. :(

I watched that, it was an ok game, I thought it was a much entertaining game than the SL/AUS. I was getting bored watching 5 spinners bowling in the same position, going no where. It was still a good win. Good thing Symonds came in to belt them.
