That's a great effort by England because that is a gun Australian side.

It is a strong Aussie team but if i could sign any player to an NRL club it would be Toby King the England centre from Warrington.
That kid has it all, speed, strength and skill.

I've seen it and said it time and time again, at the junior levels up until about U18 the kids are all more or less equal whether they are australian, english, french, kiwi or even welsh (and probably PNG, Fiji etc). It's what happens after that makes all the difference.

In that case, I reckon that the youth of the code should be the forefront for the 125th anniversary in 2020.

Under 19's RLWC in Europe - with England taking lead of course.

Finally got round to listening to the interview with the Australian Coach, Brian BATTESE from last Saturday's Test. Interesting and incisive 5 mins.

Click on the link of my earlier post if interestedin a listen.

Is there a particular reason they are called England Academy and not England Schoolboys ? Realise they play for Academy teams in their club life - but do not also rep their schools ?

To go further, is their a Schools championship that occurs in England ?

And by Championship i mean - representative teams. (e.g. Yorkshire Combined High Schools; Lanchashire Combined Catholic Colleges ; Cumbria All Schools; Cheshire All Schools etc)

Teams from outside the heartlands ? ( Bit like having SA, Victoria and WA play in the 2nd tier comp in Oz)

I think you've got it the wrong way around. The Aussies should be called 'Academy' or just U18. I guess it's another example of lack of consistency across our game. One set of rules in Super League and different ones in NRL, for example.

Oli Gildart who scored 2 tries last week and wigan back rower Nick Gregson are definitely out of the 2nd test and i believe there may be one or two others.

Genuinely curious about this part of English Rugby League now.

Seems school based tournaments and representative teams are nowhere near as organised / prevalent as I thought.

Anyone out there happy to cure my curiosity ?

The British Champion Schools tournament is the biggest RL tournament in the world. School is only mandatory in the UK until age 16 though and the school year runs from September-June so is not congruous with the RL season and doesn't really factor into player development pathways at all. Regional rep fixtures do take place but it's not related to the schools game. AFAIK there isn't much of a scene at 6th form/college level and it picks back up at universities where the game is very strong. But yeah, it's not 'England Schoolboys' because most of these boys left school years ago.

I thought the school leaving age had been bumped up to 17 unless the pupil has a job or an apprenticeship to go to?

Great win by the poms, looking forward to the highlights!

Can someone post the link on here if they find it?

Highlights are OK. Bit more vision of the game would be nice but otherwise no complaints. Looked a wee bit cool !

Well done to the English lads on squaring the ledger. Sure both teams would prefer a decider but thats not going to happen unfortunately.

Will now wait to see if anyone from this English team becomes an established member of the open age team in the years to come. (Like James Graham has after being an integral part of the successful 2004 Academy campaign.)

Be interested to know if any ex BARLA representative junior of the last decade or so has made it through to being an International.

Australians now move onto the French leg with the first game tomorrow.

Are the ENGLISH headed down under next year now ?
