Australian Team?

With Tate, Slater, Boyd and probably Josh Morris out it creates a depleted look to the backline and much emphasis could really be put on the Rabbitohs V Roosters clash as aid for selection in the left wing and right centre position - which favours Walker and as opposed to Jennings But all would depend on who goes to Fullback out of Inglis and Hayne to decifer which centre spot.

Johnston and Tupou are both left wingers so even game there.

Thoughts?

what they seem to forget is if they swap a couple of players out...like in 2006 when they swapped thurston for ben hornby and played in a jamie lyon that all the GB boys had played against for the year or 2 beforehand.....and they got beat...and it wasn't close either...

australia are going to have about a third of their world cup winning team out injured....and we've got our strongest team in decades.......im not predicting it but i would'nt be surprised if we turn them (or the kiwis) over in the group games and make the final................then we'll lose lol

Lets face it most people have been calling for Slater to be dropped anyway. Hayne is without question the best fullback in the world at the moment so i hardly see that as a big issue. Would Josh Morris have gotten picked anyway? Inglis would be first picked in the centres and i'd think Jennings and Hodges would be likely to be in front of him.

On the wings i don't think Tate and Boyd are big loses. Australia should be picking specialist wingers anyway. Brett Morris should be first picked without question so they only need one other. I don't think Tate and Boyd are the best choices.

Say Australia line up with:
1 - Hayne
2 - B Morris
3 - Inglis
4 - Hodges/Jennings
5 - Topou/Hopoate

That's hardly a terrible backline. I daresay it absolutely shames anything that England or NZ will be able to muster and i don't think it's really any weaker then what Australia have had in recent years.

I don't think the Australian team will be weak at all this year.

Tate and Boyd being gone is a blessing in disguise if you ask me - both massively over-rated players.

There's a fair few players seriously pushing for selection, and I reckon you could comfortable have a back line of:

1. Hayne
2. B Morriss
3. Inglis
4. Jennings
5. Tuqiri (been in awesome form and has done it all before at the top level)

I'm a Roosters fan, but while Tupou can score some great tries, the kid is a space cadet in defence and has terrible awareness at times.

So I got to see Whitehead play in the Leeds v Catalan game. I hope that wasn't one of his better games.

He's not exactly been having a bad year...

Aside from the fact he played for Fiji mid year, he has been in reserve grade for half the year, is not in the top 15 wingers in the comp, is too old and probably won't get another contract, sure, he may get a start for Australia.

But I don't think he will!!!!!!
