AVI Files To DVD

I hope this makes sense...

I've been burning files for a looooong time now so I get the idea of converting & have tried pretty much all the major progs that go along with it, convertx2dvd being my favoured ATM. But what I'm wondering is, when burning multiple avi for a divx capable player is there a way/program to have a menu on it also? That is to say, I can burn multiple files to a DVD & get them to play but unlike the converted disks they are chapterless & I'm unable to see what titles/episodes are there.

My main want is to do away with the converting process altogether, seems more than a little redundant to waste time & resources doing this when all the players in my house can read divx.

Thanks in advance for any help.

I just create a date disc (DVD) and burn the avi files direct onto the disc, they can then be played individually on a divX player (most DVD players play DivXs these days). It will come up with a menu for you to select your avi, this way you can fit 5-6 movies on one disc.

I have a dual VCR/DVD player and I was having some problems playing the AVIs, I found that for some reason when I renamed the files to .divx files instead of .avi they played much better so that may also be worth doing if you have any problems

You mean is there a program that will give you a menu and chapters just like a converted dvd using only avi files on a disc?

No, there is no standard for that as there is with dvd menus, it's just a list of files and each player will have it's own method to display the titles and navigate the video.

^^^ Thats exactly what I meant. But damn it on the answer. I'd really like to drop the converting process altogether but want chapters/menus for multiple movies or series. Meh, we can put a man on the moon...

Thanks all for the help.
