Golden Globes were today, some good winners, loved seeing Once Upon a Time in Hollywood win...but did anyone see the bits from Ricky Gervais? f**k he was good. The looks on some of the hollywood hypocrites' faces when he told them to shut the f**k up about politics. Bravo.

Thought Tom Hanks head was going to explode, hilarious.

The merkins just can’t help themselves though.

I was home and had it on.

For the first time in a while I was generally Interested because it was such a great year of movies.

Outside of awkwafina being the pleasant surprise and Renee Zellweger being the wtf, generally most of the winners seemed deserved.

Some of the categories were quite stacked so they really could have gone 2 or 3 ways.

Bong Joon Ho's (director of Parasite, if you haven't watched it, do yourself the favour) burn on the general movie watching public and, I imagine, I slight burn on the silly nomination rules topped anything Ricky said but I agree, Ricky was his fun, abrasive self again.

Well hey, if I'm gonna listen to anyone about Iran and our own bushfires, it's gonna be multi-millionaire Hollywood actors whose only diversity they've ever had in their lives was waiting to get charged with sexual assault in the #metoo wars.

Also isn't it funny how it's always the actors talking about political bullshit, the writers and costume designers and sound editors are a lot more humble, probably because they have to quickly say thank you before they're ushered off stage so to not waste screen time for the big precious egomaniacs.

My order would go:

1. Once Upon a Time In Hollywood
2. JoJo Rabbit
3. Parasite
4. Marriage Story
5. Little Women
6. The Irishman
7. 1917
= 8. Joker/Ford and Ferrari (I don't think these two should be in the running, although I like them both)

Should have been there: Knives Out.

I’ve had a sad movie-watching year it seems. Apart from the Irishman I’ve seen none of the other best picture nominees..

So I’d pick The Irishman.

1917 should win best cinematography.
