Great victory Gareth. It was an unbelievable result which for me was totally unexpected especially in the short time it took to bowl the Poms out. Good on you Scott Boland. You put everything into it this morning and you got the deserved man of the match accolades.
Now I'm looking forward to a white wash starting at the SCG then Hobart.
Celebrations all day today no doubt and congratulations to the whole team and staff.
Our bowling stocks look plentiful and with bright futures. We need the batsmen to be more consistent especially Smithy. Green has a good future with bowling and all he needs to do is improve his batting to be a great all rounder. All in all its great to have the summer of cricket back on and you cannot beat the Ashes series, especially when we win, win, win and hopefully, win, win against the old enemy. It certainly was D.D. in fact a pleasure to watch.
Ever so good to see the new boys Boland and Cameron Green make their mark . Along with Starc and Cummins all bodes well for the future of Australia’s cricketing
fortunes .
After our series loss against India last season, this series win against the Poms, no matter how poor they are, is the best. A win against the Poms is the greatest thing in cricket as far as I am concerned.Love the contribution from the Australians and congratulations to them all, but would prefer a tighter contest all round. It’s a third rate English side in most facets of the game. Personally find no contests series pretty boring whatever the sport.
And Green.Based on the last two tests, a fast bowling lineup of Richardson, Neser and Boland would be one of the best in the world and they're our second string quicks. Great stuff.
Surely Green plays.And Green.
The thing is, who will be dropped to make way for Josh Hazlewood and Jhye Richardson?
If they're both available for the Sydney Test, then Green will step aside, probably. That leaves a decision between Boland and Richardson. Starc and of course Cummins are part of the furniture. This is all putting injuries and covid contacts aside.
Given his age (32), Scott Boland may end up retiring with an impressive Test strike rate.
You could be spot on blacksafake. Starc needs a rest before the final Hobart test under lights and the pink ball. He is devastating with the pink ball and under lights.Surely Green plays.
Starc may get a rest so Richardson comes in for him & Hazlewood for Boland barring injuries will likely be a one test wonder & a beauty at that.
Yes Australia has been too good- but for me what is really remarkable is that our dominance has been achieved with a batting line up that has to go down as one of the weaker and more inexperienced lineups we've ever fielded. Warner and Labuschagne were dropped by the Poms numerous times in earlier tests on their way to big scores, Smith never looked convincing, Harris was lucky to hold his place in Melbourne and Green is struggling with his technique. Only Head looked confident and the jury is still out imo as to whether he's more than a short form player. The Ashes . Well our boys have done it in style and them some . Scott Boland is Australia’s new golden boy taking 6 for 7 this morning and the young debutant Green taking the final wicket - England all out for 68 . Their time on the field is perhaps best sum up by this gentleman : -

Well let’s hope they don’t use the wicket they used last night for the Sixers game. The elephant in the room on the Boxing day test was the wicket. Sure we dont want highways for pitches but the 3rd day should be the best for batting and this was far from it. I'd settle down on our love for Boland & Greens bowling until they bowl on more traditional test wickets.

It just underlines how bad the Poms have been- particularly in the field

Green definitely will play in Sydney and who knows, we could have 2 spinners in, Lyon and Swepson, with Hazlewood, Cummins depending on the SCG wicket - which usually is a good spinners' wicket. If no 2 spinners, then yes, Richardson to come in, to replace Starc who needs a rest..
And so say all of us DD- however even beating the Sharks and shutting up the " Editor At Large" (I say put him back behind bars) old Phil what's his face would be like winning a premiership for me.Sorry for the second reply to your post blacksafake, I must be suffering from being cooped up for too long. Not really. My missus and boys and a girlfriend of my eldest boy have gone for a great walking day around Bundeena and a swim at the beach. I'd love to have gone with them but unfortunately having COPD from years of smoking doesn't allow my lungs to take the couple of hours of walking so I'm home looking after the beautiful cavoodle of ours. His name is George after of course St George.
Anyway, if anybody out there is a smoker, best to give up before it's too late. Emphysema isn't nice and if you can quit before you might get it, then do it now. I've not smoked for over 12 years but I did smoke for about 40 years.
I want to be able to see us win another premiership before you know what!!!
Yes, that would be something to gloat and laugh about redandwhiteeevr. Can't wait for that Round 3 clash against them. A win against the Sharks will give us 3 in a row after we beat the Warriors and Panthers - hoping anyway, hahaha! And so say all of us DD- however even beating the Sharks and shutting up the " Editor At Large" (I say put him back behind bars) old Phil what's his face would be like winning a premiership for me.
