Balmain/Ryde-Eastwood news

This article doesn't really say anything that we didn't already know but despite that I am encouraged with all of the closer co-operation with Ryde-Eastwood.
RE Leagues is a wealthy club and the Hawkes themselves have always been well run, I think encouraging the natural ties between us is only going to strengthen both and if (as I assume) this is accompanied by RE upping their financial contributions to Balmain could do us the world of good.

My only fears are of a merger by stealth for the premier league team but I can't see that as a real possibility - the hawkes are a proud and very independant club and I can't see them ever agreeing to sacrifice that

Hawks to Boost
Tigers in 2004!

Ryde-Eastwood Hawks will boost Balmain Tigers playing strength in 2004 with a new partnership deal which will benefit both clubs.

Balmain Tigers will pool their resources with Ryde-Eastwood Hawks to form a squad of 34 contracted players to be split into two 17 member squads.

First squad will play as Balmain Tigers in the Premier League comp while the second squad will play as Ryde-Eastwood Hawks in the Jim Beam Cup.

This will herald a new era of close co-operation by the two footy clubs supported by their vibrant leagues clubs.
Both clubs resume football training this week at Leichhardt Oval HQ. Peter Camroux is Balmain Tigers coach and Paul Fletcher has been re-appointed Hawks coach for 2004.

The Hawks are fortunate to have the support of the majority of their Leagues Club directors who are also actively engaged in Junior Rugby League such as Leagues Club President Keith Aggett who is also Secretary of the Hawks footy club and Jack King who is footy club President.

Other actively supportive club directors include Vice President Warwick Porter, Harry Bell, Jim McClymont, John Dunlea and Paul Moujalli.

Balmain Tigers have a chance of playing in the World Sevens tournament at Aussie stadium Aus-tralia Day weekend January 24-25. Balmain along with other foundation clubs will play off on January 21 at St Marys for two wild card entries.

Both Tigers squads and Hawks are gearing up for trial matches during February. See ya there.

A merger between Balmain and Ryde Eastwood. They could always call them Tiger Woods. ;-)

Thankfully you aren't responsible for creating new names for NSL franchises.......lol
