I am always up for as bit of free stuff.

Bands seem to be always giving away a few free songs or albums via their websites.
Good idea in that if you are not aware of them you can get some of their stuff for free have a listen then maybe purchase some more.

Maybe people could let others know of bands they come across giving away free stuff.

I'll start

The sheepdogs - Big Stand

Canadian band who were just out here. This is an older album from 2008.
sort of countrified rock.
give it a crack ...if you dont like it..delete it.
scroll down to Big Stand.

the Basics - live from the northcote social club
This is an absolute corker of a live album.
This is Goyte's other band. He plays drums in it.
This band is red hot on this night and it sounds like the gig went off.
Great mix of musical styles with awesome musicianship.

Free Great Content meets Great Free Promotion

If you are a professional content creator you can harness the power of FrostClick.com and FrostWire's massive worldwide P2P community to promote your work absolutely for free.
What can be promoted?

We can promote music, video, film, photography, video games, eBooks, software, and other forms of digital content. Basically any type of content that can be shared digitally over the P2P network using FrostWire/BitTorrent will get it's chance.
What are the rules?

The project is still in it's infancy, so the rules might change as we go, but as of now here is the drill...
  • You must own the rights to the content
  • All content must be legal
  • All content must be free (and licensed under Creative Commons)
  • All content must be clean (there's a lot of kids in the community!)
  • Only Professional Quality or Mind Blowing content will be accepted
Music Submission Rules

There's a lot of demand for music promotion - we'll only promote the best we can find. These are the rules:
  • You need to have at least one professionally produced album (with at least 5 songs)
  • All songs should be 'radio/clean' versions
  • You need to have a high resolution image of your album cover and some promotional photographs (preferably on a white background to blend with the FrostWire welcome screen)
  • You need to have a simple text document with your bio and album info
  • All music submitted for promotion on FrostWire needs to be covered by a Creative Commons or similar license
  • Your music should be available online for us to review it (Website, BandCamp, Jamendo, Archive.org or other)
  • Lyrics and/or Guitar Tabs will make it as great attachments to your submission, your fans will love you more for this
Pluses

We will try to help those who take their work seriously and have a real passion for music. Any of these can get you ahead in the race:
  • The more EPs or Albums you've produced the better
  • You have one or more music videos available online
  • You have a Twitter account to help with your promotion efforts
  • You have a Facebook Page or Group where fans follow your work
  • You've already distributed your music via BitTorrent
  • You've been or you are performing on tour
  • There's a Wikipedia entry about you or your work
  • You've won contests or awards
  • You have performed with a famous artist
  • You've been covered by a respectable publication (magazine, newspaper, blog, tv show)
  • You're quick to respond over email you can follow instructions
Promotion is Free, as in "Free Beer"

As of December 2008, this service is absolutely free.
Submitting your content won't guarantee that you'll be promoted

Given the great amount of submissions we are currently receiving, only a fraction of them will make it to the FrostWire welcome screen. Nevertheless, we will do our best to feature your content on FrostClick.com. If your post on FrostClick.com gets an extreme amount of attention, we might reconsider your submission and place it on the FrostWire welcome screen at a later time.
What You Get

3101345160_200b824504_m.jpg

Once your content has been seeded in tens of thousands of computers, it will also be available to the Gnutella network (millions of users) for keyword based search.

Beautiful girls - ziggerauts is a great album...same dude .

IT is quickly becoming one of the most popular album downloads in Australian history, but Mat McHugh's solo record Love Come Save Me won't be climbing any chart.
McHugh, the frontman for popular The Beautiful Girls, decided he would give away his latest record online for free to thank fans for supporting his career over the past decade.
More than 25,000 copies have been downloaded from his website in the past two weeks and McHugh is encouraging fans to share those with as many people as they want.
There are plenty of people who think McHugh is mad - after all, he has a one-year-old son Kingston and partner Bianca to help support and it's tough enough to make an independent living out of music.
But the keen surfer and singer-songwriter said he felt compelled to give Love Come Save Me away "to do something I feel good about".

"This is music I love, that I put a lot of effort and heart into, and it feels good to give something to people for nothing," he said yesterday as he arrived back home from a Canadian tour.
"I don't want your mailing address and if you like it, you can give it to someone else, too, because that will make you feel good."
While his advisers wished he had issued the album under the band name which has sold hundreds of thousands of records worldwide, McHugh said he wanted to further establish his own musical identity outside The Beautiful Girls "brand".
"Having a legacy with The Beautiful Girls spurred me on to release this under my own name because I want my son to know that it was his dad making those records," he said.
The flipside is McHugh's goodwill to his fans could ultimately prove profitable, as it did for British rock group Radiohead and a cast of hip-hop stars who have posted new works online for free.
McHugh has organised a handful of solo concerts to play the new songs and will sell CD copies of Love Come Save Me at the shows before The Beautiful Girls tour to celebrate 10 years.
He will perform at The Standard in Surry Hills on June 1.
