Barbarians team?

Just an idea

If there is an uneven number of teams in next years forums - instead of having a bye there could be a Barbarians team that could draw from players not posting for their club. Players from the Barbarians opposition in that round would be ineligible. The team for the round could consist of the first seven free players to register or have a dedicated permanent captain or admin who arranged/handled the lineup.

I know at Souths we have no shortage of players able to post each week and something like this would present an opportunity for players to keep their hand in, perhaps experiment a bit or allow a captain to give a rookie a run to see what they can do.

I thought we already had a proposal like this, and the general feeling was that captains didn't potentially want any of their own players posting against them because there weren't enough positions to go around on the field on any given week...?

An interesting proposal indeed, but it would definately have it's complications. :?:

Id rather just admit a new team if possible. Try get an even amount of teams for next season if your not happy with the bye. I think the bye is great though.

It all hinges on how many teams are added or cut in 2005.

I'm aiming at adding 3 more teams before next year and I believe the membership can support it. That will eliminate the need for a bye.

But we'll see how it goes. The Barbarians concept would only work if the team had no clubhouse and no regular squad. Plus, they would earn no points for any wins. Thats how the Union boys look at it.
Potentially pointless in F7s but who knows how things will pan out?

IMO, if we have enough players left over to form an alternative team every round, then in theory, we should have enough players to form a new legitimate F7s team.

while your on the topic of new teams, im plaining on trying to get a Raiders team running for next season, there seems to be enough raider fans on this board some of which are very smart people.

Is there any process i need to undertake to get the team running?

Well, one tip Raider_69.... don't let Robster take it over. I tried to get the Raiders team running last year, had to go away for a while and when i came back found that my team had been taken over by someone else. The whole thing never got off the ground after that unfortunately.

But it was a blessing in disguise because I'm now very happy at Souths :D

Later this year I'll be proposing a Probables knock out comp to encourage other teams to join the F7s.
Raiders
Knights
Broncos
Dragons

are on the short list so far.

A knockout competition sounds great! Have teams earn their way in. Semi-similar to the Premier League in a sense. I like it...

I agree with you guys that a new legitimate team would be better, but if the bye cannot be avoided next year having a Barbarians team would allow those players who want to stay loyal to their preferred team instead of joining a new team their hearts aren't aligned with the chance to get a couple of extra posts in a season.

I'm pretty new here so didn't know about this being proposed already, and players would not be eligible to compete against their own team.

ok sweet as, there are some great writers running around in other teams that are raiders fans so if i can sway them to put on the green then we will be a good chance of getting running 8)
