The world swimming championships are on again, and the aussies have started brilliantly. Special mention to Matt Welsh and Liesal Jones, both have broken world records. Liesal Jones in her semi final in the 100m breastroke, and Matt Welsh in the 50 metre butterfly. Bit of a surprise there, but very good to see. Keep it up guys 8)

I can't believe Matt Welsh got a world record!
Leisel didn't manage to win the 100 Breastroke but she got a medal and she still has the world record which is something.
Michael Phelps was amazing in the Butterfly semis, another world record, i can sure tell why everyone is calling him the Yanks answer to Thorpie.

Welsh lost his 100m backstroke to Piersol, who came within 0.01 seconds of the world recored. He's still got the 200m, and Liesal still has the 200m breaststroke.

And Phelps is a freak!!!

Phelps has broken 4 world records already this meet...this bloke really is something special...

Well the yanks have won this meet with 11 gold, and Australia have come in 2nd with 6 gold. Hackett took out the 1500 again for the 3rd time in a row. And Phelps broke another world record in the 400 individual medley, that's a total of 5 for the meet. Not a bad event, it looks like Phelps is going to be the next big thing in male swimming.
