its a surprising decision, given that neil young isnt exactly who you'd consider being a young peoples artist.
My mums happy about him coming out tho.

I'm not necessarily a screaming fan, but if you don't have a decent amount of respect for the guy, something is wrong.

You'd be mad to pass him up for The White Stripes or whatever the other headline options are.

It's been clear for years that the BDO have been trying to be an older persons festival - aim at an older audience and you lose some of your problems. I wouldn't be shocked if they make it 18+ in the next few years...

:clap::clap:

Hell yes.

I'm sick of douchebag sixteen year olds thinking they're hardKore for moshing to Thirsty Merc.

Or stupid girls who insist on climbing on the shoulders of every moron who talks to them.

I think its quite clear that the BDO organisers are trying to steer clear of the younger "bogan" crowd and attract a different kind of music fan this year.

Of course I am sure they will counter his naming with some cookie cutter flavour of the month emo band and some stupid metal stuff on the side shows anyway.

Hopefully Young can use his clout to get Pearl Jam to come tour with him. His live shows with PJ are f**king incredible!

That would be "confirmed" surely? If it isn't on the BDO website it's still just a rumour...

Yeah true, until its announced it would be a rumour, but the source where i got this from is very involved in the process so i believe them when they tell me this is who have signed so far.

I'm not overly fussed by the announcement but I'm interested what the organisers have up their sleeve for the second announcement. If they manage to pull a Soundwave on the public this summer will be shaping up to be one of the best in terms of festivals.

From the first announcement I'm looking forward to seeing:

Artic Monkeys
Prodigy
TV on the Radio
The Living End
Cut Copy
Cog
Birds Of Tokyo
