Beattie............the worst since Boyd????

Is Chris Beattie the biggest thug to play the game since Les Boyd? I would have to say yes. This guy looks a nazi with his shaved head and behaves like one too. He is always in strife with the judiciary for careless tackles and biting but this fool never seems to learn his lesson. He, like Boyd is a blight on the game and should be run out of town.

Worse than Boyd? Well given the fact that in just one season Beattie has already been accused of just about every cowardly crime that a footballer can commit, I'd have to agree.
He got off this week but that means nothing. The judiciary is irrelevant.
We're talking about a thug here. He bites, trips, eye gouges and head butts his fellow footballers. I've lost count of the amount of times he's come on after 20 minutes and is penalised for throwing a stiff arm into the head of am opponent. He comes up very quickly out the line with the view to cause injury.
And then there was the incident anumber of matches back when he knocked out Wayne Bartrim who was standing at marker with his guard down. The mongrel then back peddled and tried to hide in the backline. It was almost laughable when he tried to explain that all he did was give Bartrim a 'push'. It was like listening to a moaning child.

I had a number of 'discussions' about this with Cronulla supporters who are at pains to defend Chris Beattie but even a few of them are now showing their concerns. Afterall, how many penalties does he concede? How many times has he cost his team points?
Amazingly, the Cronulla club has re-signed Beattie for 2 (or 3?) seasons. I guess they'll eventually realise the error of their ways but not before he costs them something like a semi final spot

I wonder if The Sharks have written anything into his contract where he can be docked $$$$ if he behaves like a neanderthal idiot?
It will happen again, this guy is a thug.

The thing that really irks me about the idiot is his total lack of remorse for his actions, much like the nazis. With him and Stevens likely to be the starting props next year the club had better have ample replacements as these two bozos will be suspended in time indefinitely. Maybe they should try and sign Craig Smith and Rodney Howe as backups?

Beattie is more than just a thug...he's an animal. It's just foul play all the time. And not just head-high tackles but stiff arms, biting, the worst stuff there is.

In State of Origin II I finally had given up on Beattie- "get him out of the game" I said. Well, if he keeps doing what he's been doing he'll soon finding himself down at the CES.

Cheers.

On behalf of the animal community, I take exception to being compared with Beattie.

You blokes are pathetic, go back to netball. f**k, last night on NRL on fox even daley and mortimer praised his awesome tackle on walker (the eagles should stick to whinging about their awful performances on and off the field). The alleged bite- the week before someone broke his nose, cotton wadding filled both nostrils( that means you have to breath through your mouth) and wagon tries to give him a facial shoving his forearm into his open mouth (remember he has to breath). Bartrim - wrong man in the wrong place, that other sgill wanker (?hart) threw that cheap shot through bartrim's legs, beattie got up , thought it was bartrim and bam , down he goes.Even adamson said he'd been told once how to get a player off you quickly, hit him in the face, the player is put off for a moment and you throw him off you. Unfortunately it didn't work and adamsom was able to laugh it off. Your venom tastes off cronulla bashing, stirring controversy or blindly following others baseless opinions. All players of his ilk fly close to dangerous play but his intent is to hurt but hurt legitimately,
cheers, Global13.

Global13:
Well it's good to see that someone at least has an alternative view on this albeit a misguided one.
I always find it amusing when someone does a bit of celebrity name dropping to support their case. Keep up the good work.

Now listen up, the story about Hart putting a hand between the legs of Beattie is a myth perpetrated by Cronulla supporters. I must have looked at that piece of footage 10 times and I can say exactly what happened. From the moment Beattie came onto the field he was spoiling for a blue.
Moments earlier he was going in late and high on a couple of tackled players.
Bartrim and Hart gave him a heavy tackle, thats all. Beattie took exception to being tackled and got up to smash someone in the face. It was an unprovoked attack and done without warning. He then ran away. There was nothing courageous in what he did, so get real.
He cost Cronulla posession and a penalty goal. By fulltime, Cronulla ended up going away with a draw. Fact.
Now, do you still think that's a baseless opinion?

LOL, oh what it is to laugh ) Sorry for breaking in here Willow but this quote of yours ......

I am going to present to a common aquaintancefirst thing tomorrow and ask him who he thinks you may bereferring toand then run for my life ) Then I'll show it to all the neighboursin my street, in a slightly out of context way of course. I've waited years to quote a dragons fan in relation to that, you've made my day:eek:)

Wagon just had his arm on the ground and Lecter decided to have a snack. You do not have to bite to breath.
Rasputin, maybe this person can help repair the damage he did in the past this year ;)

Good pickEl Duque and he definately has done a great deal this year ) Was too afraid to mention his name as Willow pointed out his amusement at namedropping so thought I best not leavemyself open )

As for repairing the damage though, never, least not as long as that Willow keeps running up and down his street telling all his neighbours anyways. Just wait till I put that quote of his in all their mailboxes, that'll cramp his style )

OK Rasputin. I'll bite ;)
I think your memory serves you better than anyone else in this forum. Myself, I don't have a big enough head to fit in all that trivia.
You don't need my permission to name drop, mate. As a matter of fact, it's almost a pre-requisite to membership. In any case, I'm sure you're talking about someone we both mutually admire.

Gosh, you flatter me. No one ever considered my style worth cramping before now.
I really don't know what to say....)

The thing is Beattie defenders, that it's not just the incidents he's been to the judiciary for that we are raving on like lunatics about. His enitre game is filled with thugish behaviour that if was added up would lead to him getting one suspension each week. Constant pushing down on player's faces in tackles is one example of the common thugishness that Beattie shows.

If he left to join Union (wasn't it Jack Gibson who said about Ruby "It's a good game for fat forwards), I would not lose one microsecond of sleep over it- except maybe if I attended a Warratahs game and had to see him again.

Cheers.

for some reason i was always a les boyd fan,the only time i took exception to him was whenhe broke brohmans jaw,he was what wests were all about in the late 70's early 80's,a tough place to visit lidcombe in those days, especially if you wore a manly guernsey.

Well there's plenty of tough players out there. To say any first grader is a wimp shows a lack of appreciation of what it took for a player to get to that level.
But lets not get thuggery mixed up being tough.

Global, don't me wrong. I have nothing against Cronulla fans. They're a hardy bunch and downright patient...they have to be. It's always been the club I can't fathom.
Moreover, I don't want to see Beattie booted out. Barring the past and future suspensions, I'd love to see Beattie playing every week!
Cronulla are welcomed to him. Let Beattie carry on in his own unique style and keep giving away penalties, points and semi final spots until Cronulla are no longer relevant. What is Beattie's contract again?2 years isn't it? Sounds about right.

Sydney Roosters v Cronulla Sharks at the SFS.

I didn't see Beattie do anything wrong tonight but there were 4 Roosters players who should be out for at least a week each:

Incident 1 - Ricketson's intentional swinging arm on Lang's head.
Incident 2 - Pongia's diving collar on Pierce.
Incidents 3/4 - Korkidas' head slam on Best and then Fletcher's cheap shot elbow to Best's throatstraight after.

Thuggery at it's best...in my opinion.

Yagona: Welcome aboard. I'm glad this discussion has prompted you to join in.

I didn't see the match, I'll watch a replay later.
I understand that this is Cronulla's 6th win on the trot!!
It's bad for the Roosters but good for Saints who (fingers crossed) have a chance to leap frog Easts into 6th spot. Still a few clicks behind Cronullla though. :)

Let me just say that those Roosters players are in trouble. Quentin, Quenetin, Quentin....you'd think you'd have learnt- what a shame that he spends half his time with Jim Hall.

Cheers.

Willow, thanks for the welcome.

Hass, I agree that those 4 Roosters players are in trouble. It'll be interesting to see if they get suspended because they play the Broncos at ANZ next week.

NB: It's Yaqona and not Yagona.
