This morning's Canberra Times (admittedly not the most renown of leagues sources) says ..

Canberra is one of three clubs to have held informal talks with former Queensland State of Origin prop Chris Beattie. Beattie, who appears on his way out of Cronulla, has also received offers from Newcastle and the Sydney Roosters.

True?

Surely I'm not the only one who reckons the Roosters are a bunch of cheats, and they arent even attempting to hide it?

Bloody Oath it is a joke.

But also I still can't believe that Cronulla don't even seem to be trying to talk to him. Coming back from his injury he seems to be playing better than he has for a couple of years and we need some hard heads especially considering we haven't been successful in recruiting any quality props

Yeah you maybe right SS,
it is odd though because if Stuy wants to get passion in the Jumper there are few players more passionate in the current squad than Beats.

He'd do OK at the Knights or Canberra. Can't see him enjoying life at the Rorters though.

If these clubs are even remotely interested though, I can't see him staying with us. If there was NO interest, he might have been offered something. But with some token offers from these guys ($60K-$80K???), his asking price should rise a little.

I wish him well, wherever he ends up.

He was great against the Warriors. There's still life in the old Beat yet. I guess the Sharks have to make a decision between Beats and the new generation of prop coming through like Newton, Green, and Vagg.

I, for one would like to see Beattie stay with us. But i have been told that his back is that bad he won't be around for much longer. Having said that i haven't seen him move so freely as he did against the warriors.

Judging by the Canberra forwards effort against Penrith tonight, the Raiders could USE Beattie!
