Just noticed this brief mention in today's tele

"Front rower Chris Beattie will miss another 2 weeks of football after minor surgery on his knee last week"

I wasn't even aware he had an injury. But the question is do you think there is a place for him back in first grade?

i think our lack of size will tell against the big sides like easts and st george

say what you like about beattie but he is a big front rower of first grade standard

we only have another one of those

beattie is an axe.
Perhaps Lolesi could take a tackle test to see which one of the forwards hurt the most when they hit you?
I'll tell how it works & save the incredible pain.
Stevens
Beattie

The "hurt" factor is a much under rated part of the game.

When did i ever say he didnt hurt??
Nice try though, i said he is to slow, your eyes must be swerving
Sure he would make some good and hard runs, but around the ruck he is to slow, he gives away to many penalty's, and just isnt playing like he use to when he got picked in SOO

Nutley and Williams are doing a great job of filling in. But Beattie's physical size is a great asset, as long as he uses it...

There is a place for Beattie there somewhere. If he isn't more valuable than Isemonger then I give up.

Reefy, you obviously haven't seen Beattie playing much this year.
He has been far from an axe!
He has lost all speed he ever had and hits the defensive line like a patsie.
Very slow around the rucks and I'm afraid age has caught up with the big fellar.

Lomu is the one I worry about . He is not that fast over 10 meters ( which every forward must be in the modern game) and avoids one on one tackles. A bad buy so far.

isnt he years younger than stevo?

i didnt think he was playing badly

i think it wont be long till he is in top grade

we need that size aggresion and ability to intimidate

He didn't look slow when he went flying through that gap on Sat night. He always looked to have pace for the Roosters too. I just don't think he has had alot of opportunity yet.

Lomu is recovering from a fractured cheekbone.
It takes a bit of confidence building before you start to get back into the in your face physical stuff.
His size and power will bea great asset to us in the future.

Ohh & I guess Jason"lighning" Stevo must go too then.
Beattie is heaps fast enough for his job description.
lat time he played in firsts , he was playing in a well beaten, Stevoles, Williamsless, outfit.
When he comes back, he will be used as an impact player not for his speed but for his hurt & weight value for the tough yards.

You can only have so many of those type of players in the team.
To put Beattie in the same class as Stevens is a huge insult to the great man.
I don't see beattie with three players clinging on to him as he presses forward.

although i dont put beattie in the same class as stevo there has been many a game when beattie was the best front rower for the sharks

i know he is injured but his dropping took me by surprise

i can only conclude one of those internal discipline issues

I think Beattie will have something to offer when he returns. It will probably be from the bench though. He was a state of origin rep and has big game experience. Our forwards are still releatively inexperienced (Both Williams, Dumas, Hilder, Galloway, even Isemonger and bickers to some extent) and Beatties' experience may become invaluable if things start to tighten up towards the end of the year. He has size and hitting power as mentioned which cannot be under estimated.
If Stuey uses Beattie correctly to offset his lack of speed Beattie can be a more than valuable contributor to the team.

People saythat Beattie lacks aggression these days.... I think he had a bit in Premier League against the Eels.....

He'll be back. Just gotta get him to be focused.
