Beau Ryan just retired from the NRL (effective immediately) live on the Footy Show.

Very sad to hear. Never been a fan of his stuff on TV but to retire so early in his career, no one should ever be faced with that decision.

He's a great character for rugby league.

Probably for the best. He is struggling on the park and for what ever reason the Footy Show masses find his slap stick comedy routine hilarious, so he's got a good thing going on there.

Always sad to see people forced into retirement due to injuries though.

Sad news for someone so young in his career looks to have a good TV career ahead though, good luck Beau.

Very sad, kind of forget he debuted back in 2007 and has 126 games to his name. Fatty said that only 7% (I think) of all players in history of the NRL have played more than 100 games so if I am correct with that stat then well done Beau on being in a pretty elite class.

I guess he knows... when to call it quits. Better enjoy the media gig while he can, comedy can been a fleeting livelihood.

Hardly a suprise. Has been gunning for a full time media gig for about the last 18 months. Hopefully The Comedy Show gets cancelled at the end of this year.

The Footy Show appeals to the lowest common denominator.
Unfortunately that level of intelligence is rife in this country - providing it with the ratings required to maintain an existence.

Somebody is over thinking it. If you love footy and the NRL then watch the show, get to see another side of the players which isn't all stats and analysis. Who gives a f*ck if its not THAT funny, its the funniest side you'll see of footy all week.

Have you watched the Dragons play recently?

The Footy Show is alright when they're actually talking footy, it's the boring comedy and repetitive jokes that do my head in

Yeah, that 5 minutes segment where they discuss the 8 games when half the panel doesn't even watch the games to begin with is stellar stuff.

All the best to the bloke...

He was no superstar... But 126 first grade games is nothing to be scoffed at...
