I've seen Inu play. I agree he is very good. That isn't my point though. The point I'm making is that why doesn't the coaching staff think along the same lines as you?

All about opportunity mate. You can hardly drop Smith or Tahu to make way for Inu but if an injury presents itself.......

Because they are too technical for e.g Willie Tonga....now here I was watching this kid playing Flegg, PL and ripping it up...admitedly he got his oppo playing on the wrong side of the field against Canberra when they tore us up....but Blind freddy could see he was going to be a very good player...but we kept Vaeleki and Graham instead supposedly because they were technically better. Sometimes u have to go with a natural and let him play.

Parra gave Tim Smith a shot which was good and now their giving Cordoba a shot.

Feleti Mateo could be anything.......ANYTHING!!!

Are you implying that the coaching staff are incompetent? If the average person can see who is going to be special I'm surprised the expert staff cannot. With the amount of people who say how good Mateo is and how many people complaining about Morris and Wagon being useless I'm surprised he hasn't been given a go already.
What exactly do you mean by technical btw? They prefer robots to instinctive players?

actually mateo has been given a go in firsts two seasons ago. only one game but i thought he showed enough in a bad side to suggest he could be something special.

i'd love to see him get three or four consecutive games under his belt to show if he can handle the top grade on a weekly basis.

I don't think anyone doubts his skills.

I would guess it be discipline, attitude or something else like say fitness that is probably holding him back in the eyes of the coaching staff.

I believe Grothe had these problems a few years ago. He definitely had the skills, but something else was not right. It's glad that he has fixed those things now.

No implying that they have their favs players...Wagon, Burt etc etc....Some kids need to be just given a chance. And they need to play their Natural game. Mateo has freakish skills which are on par with what Dymock used to do for us.

I think it tends to be Mateo's attitude when things are against him that seems to be his only draw back. My understanding was he was injured again during the off season and has again been slow to work on that injury.

I agree with you when you say he could be anything. Personally I think he holds himself back.

It would be interesting to see if Feleti gets a run this week and how Matt Cameron uses him.

Just on a few things people, Delaney was sitting behind me on Saturday and he looked a bit sick but I believe he will be fit for this week.

As for Feleti, he got his tonsils out last Thursday and wasn't feeling the best on Saturday but he will be right for this week.

If both Tahu and Smith are out, I'd have to go with Delaney and O'Dwyer. I'd love to see Inu have a go as this kid is full of talent though I dont think Smithy will give him his opportunity.

Jarrad Hayne looked like he had the flu also.

Joel Reddy lst yr played a few games in the centres when basan came into the no.1 jersey and a few games I think Ash was out and Joel played and he went ok but still he is no centre.

Putting Deano in the centres is totally wrong.

We shall see what Smithy names today.

So he pulled out due to the flu and not the ankle injury?

One thing I don't understand is how all of you hype up so many juniors and yet the coaching stuff don't seem to see what you guys see. It's not a case of overhyping is it? I mean it's not like age is an issue anymore in regards to playing first grade.

It's very simple. Players in the lower grades are apparently recruited, spotted, and owe their ability to members of these forums. The same applies to players who go to other clubs. The coaching staff apparently only have any influence on players in first grade who have poor games. Also forum members are in a better position to select players who they have never spoken to, monitored for injury or fitness, or seen at training. And of course, form in premier league, flegg or even ESL is given greater weight than NRL first grade.

The sooner we get rid of all coaching staff and allow selections to be made by the forum members the quicker we will win a comp.

The game MAteo played was the 2004 game v Storm in Melbourne it was also Ben Smith's 1st grade debut match and was the match where Moimoi scored his 1st career try

Mateo actually had a half decent game making 109 metres from about 8 hitups and approx. 9 tackles.

I agree 100%.

Deano is a great utility player whom at a push can play there if called upon during a game due to an injury. Should never be named at center though. Same as 5/8th IMO.
