Ben Hunt requests release from the Drags

Agreed . The Dragons need to just loan to Broncos ( cause he doesn’t want to be there anyway and it makes them look good and him bad)
And meanwhile hang onto that contract for 24/25 . Anyone that wants it released should then come to the negotiating table
Yeah nah the next club wants no part in subsidising/assisting Ben Hunt's ring chase this season in Brisbane as the party paying any talent exchange freight next season while Brisbane get their cake and eat it too.

This is another example of why a draft could be useful. St George could get draft compensation for their want-away player, as opposed to the nothing they are likely to get in the current arrangement.

"Well I think this is the game isn't it, the game's a business and if you don't get the results well this is what's in front of you," he said on Nine's Sports Sunday.

"It's disappointing, there's a lot of talk about Ben Hunt at the moment and shifting clubs and should he be allowed to shift clubs? Well clubs are allowed to sack people at the drop of a hat so why can't players sack clubs at the drop of a hat?

Billy Slater chiming in with some absolute dribble. Defending his boy Hunt. The reason Billy is because coaches usually get paid out their contracts in full when they are sacked.

Players rarely if ever pay out their contracts to the club do they Billy? I note Hunt was very quick to clarify to Badel he had no interest in giving money (speculated in an article at $150k) back to St George to expedite his release. You're an idiot Slater.

You got any proof?

The NRL sending please explains to 2 clubs is a pretty good indication that they know clubs are in contact with him already.

Oh and you are delusional if you think Hunt isn't doing this having already spoken to clubs. How else would he know that his preferred club has space to fit him in this season?

That's not proof.

my own words ?
learn to read ... this is the same situation ...in reverse

unhappy club lets player go
unhappy player lets club go

both had contracts
clubs usually hold all the cards in these situations , but not always

oh
& stop being a whiny little bitch
The player holds all the cards. A player with a contract is guaranteed to make that money whether he performs or not.

If a player becomes worth more, or is sick of losing and wants to change clubs etc. He can be a little bitch requesting a release and the worst that can happen is he honours his existing contract in reserve grade. But teams can't afford to do that usually and the player gets what he wants.

If the reverse happens and a player signs overs and plays like shit. Clubs are powerless to get out of paying them. They can shop them around. But if another club does take him the first club has to pay the difference still. And the player is getting his full salary.

If the player doesnt want to leave the club. He can stay and the only chance the club has to get rid of him is if he's dumb enough to do something they can sack him for

Are you referring to the idiotic one about Brisbane always being the victims?
No, you used an example of Gasnier coming back to the NRL being the same as Hunt leaving for the remainder of 2023.
Which NRL club did Gasnier leave to play the remainder of the season back in 2010?

But but but the poor players get moved on by the mean clubs (when they start to coast on long-term guaranteed money and play like shit)

It was actually that @gerg that mentioned Gasnier, @THE CHAMP only said it had happened before, probably referencing TPJ to Panthers.

Not sure how the Broncos can fit a million dollar player into their squad? Mid season transfers are garbage. Gasnier, SBW, Lodge, TPJ. All dodgy.
It was bullshit when Gasnier returned to the Dragons for 50k, it was bullshit when SBW returned to the Roosters for a latte and croissant, it was bullshit when Lodge signed on for the Roosters - at Warriors cost, it was bullshit when TPJ signed for the Panthers, and this is bullshit too. I hope the Dragons hold their ground.

Also I should state, I could go either way on Hunt, yes he could help propel Broncos if he played 9 and could be a backup for Reynolds, But I also think there is a chance he could hinder the harmony the squad has now.
It's also a big kick in the teethe for the guys who have worked so hard to get Broncos back to title challengers and he just comes in on the coat tales.

For mine this is a great outcome.

I just hope its remembered by Fox and 9, next time a club wants to shaft a coach or player who is not performing well, but has years to run on there contract.

No, that would be worked out with the Titans. Certainly not free to go with nada in return from the Titans.
I agree but I like the way the club is doing it . Say no to full contract. If a club wants to change our mind then what can you offer us
