Which ground do you think is the best turf pitch in your opinion or have played on this summer season or heard raves about ? this only appeals to sydney grade cricket

Husrtville Oval.

That place is kept immaculate all eyar round. This is tough considering it spends the winter months getting trampeled by the league sides.

I would love to play on North Sydney Oval, always looks great etc, although having footy on it all winter might not help it.

I think its hard for grounds like Killara Oval (Gordons ground) to be compared to grounds which NSW play on which are pretty much like stadiums such as North Sydney Oval , Bankstown Oval and sort of Drummoyne Oval.

My favourite would probably be University #1 or Pratten Park (Old but great)

Fairfield Oval would have to be one of the biggest dumps in the world.

Having played on Bankstown and Killara past 2 weeks in first grade and being rolled for 63 and 90 i cant say ive got too much love for them grounds.

Hurstville Oval is a great ground, normally a belter of a batting deck.

Fairfield Oval???? Great Grandstand and Quality Dressing Room area but the field is pretty poor. sh*t fence, average pitch , huge on one side , small on the other....

Not sure about the pitch, but the Barker College ground in Hornsby has the best outfield, it is like playing on carpet, beautiful!

So true eddie , i prepare their first grade ground but fairfield is not in my control its another council. i hear so much about fairfield its actually frustrating the green shielders and so come xmas this year they are moving to my ground to play greenies. its confirmed by the club committee and my ground is one of the best in sydney right now . has 100 percent grass on the wickets and the outfield is very green and lush quite comfortable to trod on too after all the topdressing and fertilising and slicing over xmas , i,m sure many will love to play there i have 4 more first grade games there this year mosman, parra, wests and sydney uni bar manly seconds are there, if we win next weeks limited over against nthn districts we will get a home semi at my ground.

Chatswood Oval is a very nice place to play cricket, and Hawkesbury the biggest whole in the earth.

Why dont Gordon 1st grade play at Chatswood, would have thought the stands would have been an attraction

chatswood hasnt even been used this season as its been dug up and returfed. they havent played 1st grade there for a while as the wicket isnt good enough (always gets cut up in rugby season). the whole ground is tons better than killara, however killara has a far better pitch

and yes bensons lane may be the worst place in the world

I recently played a few of the Sydney grade grounds.

Hurstville was quality, Caringbah, UNSW and the South Sydney one were OK. Didn't rate Hawkesbury.
