90 guitarists were nominated, which comes to 10 groups of 9. The top 3 vote-getters of each group go through to the next round, thus wittling the total down to 30. Let the voting begin.

Not everyone is going to know of all the guitarists nominated, so I suggest you look them up on youtube or if worse comes to worse, just vote for who you know. Voting closes in 3 days.

bellamy is a freak...absolute guitar nerd.

I will pick him.
Havent heard much of the other blokes....that probably means they are a bit obscure.

Morello awesome but I think Bellamy has more tricks.

I went Steve Lukather, probably the best in that list.

Tom Morello is so over-rated, i still don't see why people wank over him, he's simply just a solid rythem guitarist who likes the whah pedal. I've heard some of his solo's and they were quite embarrasing for a guy with his rep.

I went Morello more because of what RJ just said, he is slightly overrated... but that doesn't make him sh*t - people have a worse perception of him because he is so highly rated (if i'm making sense)... besides i like listening to his work even though it may not be the greatest. If not Morello i would have gone with Bellamy.

what makes him so original?

It is not so much his playing but more the sounds he can get from his guitar.

He does a lot of rythm based stuff using one pickup turned all the way down and one all the way up.
He calls it killswitching or something.
It almost sounds like scratching as in DJ ing.

Fair enough, sort of thought that.

Bellamy for me too. He's the next generation guitarist. Gonna make one of his guitars one of these days too:

Morello is good. 'Know Your Enemy' is still one of all-time favourite guitar tunes. But he's so 1995 for me these days. That said, he still gets me interested.

Hetfield is an old favourite too. He's also written some of my most favourite tunes, but he's the past. Bellamy has already got his respect and the torch has been passed for great riff writers.

Here you go, Ron: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7W2jXFSpjf8

Can't vote in a guitarist poll if you've never heard of Matt Bellamy.

Tough choice for me, i love Morello but Bellamy is a gun. Seen Muse 3 times and everytime Bellamy blows my arse out.
