Zappa was a pretty hard task master I have read.
So to play that shyte is hard enough without the freak that wrote it judging you .

Vai is another super duper diddler who's own stuff is pretty similar to the other blokes like him.
The Zappa thing did it for me.

a) he's my fav guitarist
b) his composing skills are just as awesome as his technical skills.

The three at the top look standouts and you could pick any one of them on any different day.
Clapton maybe but I cant honestly say why he's any better than the other 2 at the top.
