The best era of Rugby League in my opinion, and is it any wonder with halves combos like these...

We had Smith and Goldthorpe yet amazingly still made consecutive grand finals.

Scott Prince is severely underrated. IIRC his early career was hampered by injury but his premiership winning year and career at the titans puts him in the top end of halfbacks in the NRL era

When you consider that the halfbacks we've had in the last 15 years arent a shade on the ones in the 80s/90s its a suprise Princes career isnt more highly thought of. I'd argue fairly strongly that after the obvious 3 (Johns, Thurston, Cronk) he is the next best 7 in the NRL era.

I suppose the lack of Origins (only 5 ) due to being stuck behind Thurston cost him

2003 Qld origin halves were Berrigan and Ikin....those were tough times.

Ikin was forced to play injured as well I think

they both played origin, and hornby kangaroos , very winning combo,
look at the statistics, country boys hit the big time through hard work

Bert didnt run out and have a big game, he walked out and changed the game. One of the all time great big game players our game has seen.
