I'm not referring to the CDs in particular, but having listened to the 97 Hottest 100 all day it got me wondering which does LU think was the best of the Hottest 100s from top to bottom?
1993
JJJ audience is just regular kids so whatever is popular with them will finish 1. Thats why it just follows trends. Probably be that diabolical thrift store song this time around.
I cant listen to triple J, but f**k I love unearthed. Every few weeks ill spend an hour or so on the site ripping as many songs from bands i havent heard of as possible.
After giving them all a listen ill always find atleast 2-3 bands who are f**king amazing that id never hear elsewhere. Not surprisingly only one of those bands is from Sydney, so i cant even go out and support 95% of them.
The clearly best hottest 100s was the one that came out when I was <number between 16-20> years old
This is due to music in this period being better, and has nothing to do with personal taste or nostalgia
/every person ever
The early/mid 1990s Hottest 100s were the best.
In latter years, it appeared that Triple J listeners got soft. FMD the likes of Augie March, Mumford & Sons, Jet and Alex Lloyd as Number Ones.
f**k off!!
 Basically my reasoning in selecting 1996-97. There have been years since that I've enjoyed more music from, but those have typically been internet years - where I was listening to music from all over the shop.
They are probably the years that get the most play on my ipod too, for the reasoning I said above.
Funnily enough it tapers off in the mid-2000s, but now the last 2 years get a lot of play as I enter my "OH f**k I'M ALMOST 30" crisis years and try to compensate by keeping up with what the hip kids are listening too
You got old. I'm sure those voting for mumford and sons, will say the same in 15 years time
To be honest, every hottest 100 has it's fair share of decent to terrible music. I much prefer the like a version CD's every year.
