Allan Langer - SOO Game 3 2001

Recalled by Wayne bennett from England after being dumped by the broncos in 1999, Alfie absolutely tore NSW apart in the decider setting up 3 tries and scoring 1 himself.

Even as a NSW fan you had to admire the comeback

I remember Brett Mullins in a Friday night game against the Knights being almost unstopplabe.

Scoring tries from everywhere, I think maybe it was 1994

Luke Phillips in the 2000 GF...best display by anyone in a losing side.

Yeah, I was going to mention that one. Brilliant performance. How he wasnt given MOTM was beyond me.

Two other Rooster games that spring to mind are from 2002

The first was Morley in a game against the Sharks.
We were losing at half time and to be honest, we looked like also rans (as we had for most of that season) and then something strange happened.

The Roosters came out in that second half at the SFS fired up beyond belief. It was if someone had told Morley that unless he shoulder charged every Sharks player into the ground and left them next to dead then he would be spending the rest of his time on this earth being tortured to death. I have never seen anyone more hell bent on hammering people in my life. The whole team then fired and we went on a steamroller ride to the Grand Final.

Which brings me to my 2nd nomination who is Richard Villasante of the Warriors who inadvertently inspired the Roosters to victory by trying to kill Brad Fittler with the most ridiculous high shot in history.

God alone knows what he was thinking, but it fired up the Roosters and inspired them to turn the game from a losing position to an untouchable winning position in about 20 minutes. If big Richard had kept his cool the Roosters probably would have lost that final. Thank you so much for being such a hot head and getting it so wrong. We Roosters fan salute you!

steve clarke :D

dragons vs bulldogs in games between the two sides :D

Yeah, but he's even minded

For every game he shafts the Dragons for in favour of the Dogs, he shafts the Roosters in favour of the Dragons and then peversely shafts the Dogs in favour of the Roosters.

Mine are perhaps not as "flashy", but they stood out and I'll list why:

* Fuifui Moimoi's First Grade debut VS Manly in 2004 (I think?)

He came off the bench, and by that stage Manly were dominating us. His first hit-up he ran straight over the top of Luke Williamson. He did this a few more times throughout the game, even though back then he was very unfit. His charges put Parramatta back on top and we won the game.

* Sonny-Bill Williams' First Grade debut in 2004 VS the Eels

I was gutted at the result, obviously. The Dogs put 50 on us. But SBW was freaking unbelievable - he ran straight over the top of Daniel Wagon, Nathan Hindmarsh, Michael Vella, Jamie Lyon...Offloaded like some hybrid between Feleti Mateo and David Solomona...And smashed ball-carriers like they were lightweights. Amazing from a young player making his debut.

* Eric Grothe, Jnr. against the Bulldogs in 2007 (I think; might have been 2005)

He scored two scorching tries very reminiscent of his old man; bumped people like Mason and Ryan off of him with relative ease; and offloaded freely to set up big gains. Scarcely seen a winger dominate as much as he did.

* Benji Marshall in round 26 2009

The Tigers may have lost that game but Benji was outstanding.

Fittler aganist the Kiwis in 1995 was the best individual performance I've seen. He was simply awesome.

King Wally in any of the 80s Origins. The man was a freak and regularly sat Blues forwards on their a**e.

Best performances I've seen on a losing side...

Billy Slater vs. Broncos 06 Grand Final
Did everything in his power to win the game for Melbourne. Was a constant menace to the hopes of Brisbane and made a lot of metres.

Feleti Mateo vs. Brisbane 08
People continue to praise the efforts of Lockyer who was good during his second stint on the ground. But the best player that night was easily Mateo who constantly challenged the Broncos defence and came up with a try, two try assists and a wonderful catch into his gut.

Justin Hodges vs. Penrith 07
4 tries and was unstoppable for most of the night. The only mistake he made was putting in a half arsed grubber kick for himself that Jennings swooped on to score the try that got Penrith back into the game.

Fui Fui Moi Moi vs. Storm 09
He played well and beyond what he should've played to get the Eels back into the game. It's a shame for Fui, it wasn't enough.

I'm sure there are a few others.
