The old age question that brings debate like no other topic in the NFL except perhaps for who is better: Barry Sanders or Emmit Smith ? NO, I am not going there polluting this thread.
A mate of mine from the USA will quote the following when discussing QB's:
"The scrambling QB will dominate the ESPN highlight reel, pocket passers dominate playoff time"
The above has rang true for over decade just about in my books where only perhaps Steve Young could of fit the 'scrambling QB' mould. I won't put the agin Elway in that list when the Bronco's went back to back on the back or Terrell Davis.
If I am a new owner in the league, I narrow it down to 2 guys: Peyton Manning & Tom Brady. Favre is nearing the end of his career so he was not considered, McNair was a possible option whilst McNabb, Culpepper and Vick were looked at as dual threats though I am more of a drop back QB kinda-guy. A sleeper is Chad Pennington who is young, accurate and a born leader. But I can't have them all.
Let's start with Manning.
Many experts claim he is the hardest working QB when it comes to studying game film of the opposition and as a pure passer, he ranks with Dan Marino. The knock on Manning thus far (apart from up until recently to win a playoff game) is he has not taken this team to the SuperBowl. I find it hard to blame the guy soley, he has not had a defence capable of backing up the talent on the offensive side of the ball.

Tom Brady is the NFL's nice guy who has happened to win 2 of the last 3 Super Bowls along with the SB MVP award on both occasions. Pretty fair effort for a guy who was drafted late in 2000 draft from memory who was riding the bench behind Drew Bledsoe. He reminds some of Joe Montana with ability to keep cool under pressure and win football games. I am not certain of his winning % but it has to rank higher than any QB starting in the league today. As of the minute, he is 17-0 on track to break a record which from memory is 18 straight wins.

After alot of deliberation, I am taking / voting for Tom Brady. Who can argue with 2 SB rings after only 5 seasons in the NFL ? The offensive guys around him he makes better which is a sign of a great player and whilst he will not be one to cop plenty of hype come the regular season, Tom Brady behind centre is the best there is the business.
