Hell, it was once a ridiculous statement to say 'I would rather Jake Plummer over Drew Bledsoe'...now ? Not so much as Jake has improved immensley in Denver under Shannahan whilst Bledsoe whilst still possessing a big, strong arm, struggles in Buffalo with inconsistency.

As for "he won a super bowl so he must be good... thats the theory isn't it?"...Mark Rypien and all of Washington thought so in 91. I am certain though your Jim Kelly, Dan Marino would all still be considered GOOD, hell, lets say GREAT though they have no ring in their cupboard.

Brad Johnson ijust quietly in 2002/03 was a damn fine QB when winning his SB ring and always has been though injury prevented him to shine in places like Minnesota, Washington etc.

Winning a SB ring does not ultimately turn a bad QB into a good/great QB IMO, though when discussing who is the better between a regular season king and a solid, allround performer who gets it done in the playoffs, YES, SB rings matter unfortunately as it rings bring sponsors, publicity all equating to positives for the winning franchise. Manning for all his success in the regular season will be mentioned as a guy not able to get it done in the playoffs sadly IF he can not have success their over his career. Even getting to a SB will cut him some slack ala' Dan Marino.

A question for you Broncodroid: situations reversed and Manning was a Patriot playing with that fantastic defense and awesome coach and Brady was a Colt playing with that god awful defense, who do you think would be considered the best?

SB rings is not the be all and end all. I do rate Brady very highly, just behind Manning, but one can only wonder what Manning could also have done playing with the Patriots.. I mean just look what he's doing at the Colts now...single handedly has a team with one fo the worst defences at 7-3. 35 Td's. He's amazing and showed last year in the play-offs he can get it done until he came up against the Pats at Foxboro. Give him another chance this year and im sure he'll prove you wrong...he may not win the SB but it certainly wont be his fault just like it never was Marino's.

Brady is obviously a great QB...the results of the Patriots speak for themselves...

Its a fine line between success and failure though...the Patriots certainly did not dominate either opponent in their SB victories, but still came away with the 2 titles...

A lot of people forget that Bledsoe ( when he could still play) led the team to a come from behind win in the AFC title game 3 years ago when Brady was injured.

As I keep saying, its a team game....

Dan Fouts is an example of a great QB who never made it to the SB.

I still think Manning will be considered a great player, whether the Colts ever make the SB or not ( and it appearts unlikely they will make it this year).

Hypotheticals are just way too hard to answer IMO when it comes to the NFL. Would Steve Young be the greatest QB of all time if he was not drafted by Tampa and then signed to sit behind Montana for all those years ? Who knows ? Young proved he was a great QB when given the keys to the Niners offense, there is an argument he may just have been.

As for the role reversal...if Manning is still moving the Pats machine forward matching the win ratio, SB wins that Brady has produced, sure, he would be. Though would Manning resort to playoff form of the last few seasons where he has came up short all barring ONE GAME. Who knows ? Some QB's simply are a 'best fit' in a offensive system IMO and though I would like to entertain the prospect of Manning in this Pats team, there is no point in doing so as there are too many variables/q's to ponder.

Brady had a shocker against the Dolphins. He is clearly well below Manning in the rankings, though still very good.

Lol sunny, plummer did anything but that, Funny though, Brooks makes the list and he does even stupider things than plummer when "attempting" to throw the ball, Plummers bright enough to know which way to throw the ball

Plummer is better than Brooks, who has great skills but hardly ever uses them well.

Did anyone watch Colts vs Ravens?

Perhaps the most enjoyable game I have seen in a long, long time. Manning had the crowd in the palm of his hand in which they quitened down so he could call his audibles at the line with the GREAT Ray Lewis doing the same with Baltimore.

Manning was sensational, it was a pleasure to watch this great QB take on IMO the best defence in the NFL. Admittedly, when watching this game, I on more than one occasion got goose bumps watching the Cotls offense vs Lewis and his D.

I may have to renig here...Peyton Manning is the best QB in football. To see him in action against quality opposition, he was inspirational. Don't get me wrong, Brady is as well, he IS and WILL be labelled a GREAT QB but Manning was jaw dropping and this was a game where he threw only 1 TD.

When our main man (Marino, I am a Dolphins fan) loses his record, there is nothing to be ashamed of. This guy is an NFL coach taking snaps who will be a 2 time (consecutive) MVP.
