Best young player in the world?

21 years and under?

I would say Kaka for me. Oba Martns and Rafaal van der Vaart as probably the two best u-21 strikers in the world. Petr Cech is the best u-21 goalie in the world as he is first choice for his country (Czech Republic).

If I did this last year or two ago, I would put Iker Casillas as the best u-21 keeper in the world.

Pongolle - that the young dude at livo?? He looks like class. Wonder why he doesn't play him more often!

Bentley at ARSEnal seems to have the goods as well, along with Reyes.

VDV lately seems to be getting back into the form he showed last season, so I'd say him. Mentions also go to Kaka, Torres and Ronaldo.

Although Adu might have something to say about that.

Just noticed that everybody is of course naming attacking players, so thought I'd add a defender. Kompany is supposed to be the best young defender in the world, but I've never seen him play.

Ya see the youngens have to be introduced into the game very easily as they have to gain experioence but cant afford to cost games from their inexperience. Hence why they are basically wrapped up in cotton wool untill a less important game or last minute sub is on the cards.

definately Ronaldo

Fernando Torres. Looks like the new millenium's version of Marco van Basten, he even scored a volley similar to the great man earlier this season.

That Rooney hasn't been given much attention lately, what's the news? Normally the English media are all over their own crops even if they aren't delivering.

Its hard to say because guys like rooney and Ronaldo are still in their teens whilst someone like Kaka is 21 turning 22, thats almost 4 years difference. On potential Cristiano Ronaldo looks to be a rare talent, the bloke has magic feet, is genuinely a two footed player, can play striker, left wing and right wing and seems a very confident young player. I heard someone describe him as a mix between denilson and luis figo.

Wayne Rooney is no doubt a star as well, and as is James Milner.

Freddy Adu is no where near the best young player in the world.

He has played two games of MLS and he is now the best??

Most overated player ever.

If I remember correctly, he was player of the tournament in the under 17's World Cup, despite being 2 years younger than anyone else there (3 years younger than most). So he's obviously got the skill.

Adu certainly is no where near the other top young players like Kaka and VDV at the moment. But when you take into consideration that he's only 14, who knows how good he'll become?

Much Adu about nothing?

Sorry, couldn't help myself.

Under 17's England player Aaron Lennon who also plays with Leeds United, is one of the future stars I have seen, pure skill!
