Bicycle pests on our roads. Where does it end?

Has anyone else had it up to their neck with these muppets taking up our roadspace?

Classic scenario today:

I'm in a 100km/h zone. In front of me is some douche bags on their bicycles. One of them is riding in the middle of the lane and another one is next to him. A few metres ahead of them there's also another bicyclist riding in the middle of the lane with his friend next to him.

So this is just before a shallow hill, a hill nonetheless that I can't see over for oncoming traffic. Now I need to overtake these idiots doing 20km/h (max) in the 100km zone. But I can't see in front over the hill so I have to slam on the breaks. However behind me is another car, ALSO doing 100km/hour.

Fortunately the driver behind me was super quick to react and slammed his breaks on otherwise he would've rammed right up my rear.

Now picture this scenario with cars full of toddlers.

Overtake and there's the possibility of a head collision.

Slow down to the bicycle pace and there's the possibility of getting slammed in the back.

This is just ridiculous. There is absolutely no reason why the damn bastards couldn't just ride to the far left of the road where they bloody well belong.

According to www.carrsq.qut.edu.au/publications/corporate/bicycle_safety_fs.pdf

Each year, an average of 35 cyclists are killed and over 2,500 are seriously injured on. Australian public roads.

Bicycle injuries make up a third of all transport-related injuries presenting to hospital emergency departments.

I'm pissed off with these idiots riding in the middle of the fricking road. In a 40 zone it's bad enough, in a 100 zone it's just a joke. They think that they are being all healthy and environmentally friendly, but they just piss everybody off. They don't PAY for the ROADS, they don't register they bicycles, so they shouldn't have the same rights as the people who do.

And now they have massive fines for people who accidentally open their car doors (to get out onto a pathway) and some goose on a bicycle runs into their car door instead of breaking. Outrageous. If we have to look out for their interests, then they should watch out for ours and be careful riding in areas where they KNOW people are constantly getting out of vehicles e.g Car parks.

Also if a woman walks on a side of the road with kids in a pram then it's an absolute f**king disgrace.

But it's ok for someone to ride a bicycle on the side of the road with a 2 year old toddler on the back... hell it's their GOD GIVEN RIGHT apparently.

The other day I even saw a bloke towing a homemade trailer behind his bicycle riding on the side of a road with his kid in the TRAILER!

The trailer was sticking out on the road and each car had to slow down and swerve around it. HOW DANGEROUS IS THAT?

But thanks to the government giving these tools so many right on the road. They think they can do whatever the hell they want.

Seriously, the government either has to pull their finger out and build bicycle lanes to accompany every road (even if they have to renovate some older roads or change the laws and put the bicyclists where they belong - to the very extreme left of the lane.

The statistics show how dangerous the current system is, and if they don't want to make it safer then ban bicycles all together from using the roads designed for motorized vehicles.

I was happy to share the road, but by share I mean share . Ride on the extreme left and don't take up my part of the road. If you can't keep up - piss off.

Anyone has anything to add?

It end up on the front of my trucks bullbar if they move in front of me on the freeway.

58 Tonne of truck versus less then 100kg of cyclist doesn't end too well.

Btw if they are in a 100km/h zone the should be in the shoulder or if not as far to the left as possible and not 2 or 3 abreast.

Due to Canberra's excellent design with its many dedicated cycling paths & lanes, I rarely if ever encounter this problem.

It's completely absurd to have them on a 100km/h road though, from both perspectives.

I thought the use of bold text emphasized the main points of the post, as well as the use of descriptive and emotive language and block capitals.

8/10, would read again.

Remember, the road is there to share. Not be a dickhead driver who thinks he owns the road.

I was happy to share the road, but by share I mean share . Ride on the extreme left and don't take up my part of the road. If you can't keep up - piss off.

That's what i wrote in the original post about sharing.

I hate those idiots who put a motor on a mountain bike, they're so loud and it just makes you look like dumbarse.

Oh and I really hate motor scooters. I was on a train once and these 14-year-old kids said something along the lines of "ride a scooter, die a virgin" now they're definitely liars because two of them were claiming to have had sex before, but I am pretty sure they're right about scooters.

People (usually cyclists) sometimes mock anti cyclist drivers saying they are just narrow minded pigs who don't know anything about nothing. The reality is that the cyclists have bitched and moaned to the government about their "rights" so much that now they think that it's ok to ride around the main roads like they are a f**king road train. It's no wonder so many of them are hurt each year. They are the ones with the attitude problem. All high and mighty because they have the media and government on their side. It's just stupid and dangerous. It's no use being all "healthy"if you put yourself in a dangerous situation every day out of your own free will and completely unnecessarily. I guess some people only learn the hard way.

I'm assuming your a cyclist?

Would not be surprised if that was the case. They forget the divers pay $600-$1000+ each year to use the roads when cyclists don't pay a single cent. The saddest part is that when an accident unfortunately does occur, it is the driver who always gets slammed even if the dumbass bicyclist may have been riding in the centre of the lane with no visibility lights in the middle of the night. It's just a shit situation all round for everyone involved causedby the bicyclist's ignorance.
