They should call it, The NRL's Oppinion. Thats the problem, it is going to be a biased magazine where the writers will tow the party line. League needs a good indipendant publication where the writers aren't affraid to hold back.
The quality of Rugby League writing is pretty bad at the moment. I was stuck in a North Queensland Country Town for a few hours so I went to the news agents. Rugby League is my number one sport but I instead opted for Bicycling Australia, the Tour de France eddition. It was a very good informative read. There were a few articles by sports phycoligists and doctors and discussion on the sports finer points. Articles on the junior system, how to ride on gravel, insight into teams, a good preview of the Tour De France with an indepth look at the major combatants for all the competitions, profiles on the Australian riders and the mountain stages.
What do you get in Either Rugby League magazine, the team listing, a paragraph on each game, what Ryan Girdler ate for breakfast, a picture of a cheergirl and not much else. If you team is playing away, even if it is a local derby, don't expect any articles on your team in Big League. They don't exist for a week. The last article I recal written by a Doctor in Rugby League Week was an artical attributing the "x" factor in players to ADD. Not exactly the quality I want.
