In hindsight, though, look at some of the guys WCW released:
- Stone Cold: Essentially won the Monday Night Wars for WWE
- Mick Foley: Became a legend in ECW/WWE
- The Radicals: All excellent wrestlers who contributed to WWE (Perry Saturn least of all)
- Chris Jericho: Was a superstar in next to no time
- Big Show: Ditto
Then look at who they stole. You have guys like Hogan, Hall, and Nash who are widely blamed for much of WCW's downfall (particularly Hogan's backstage politics and Nash's poor booking).
Austin would not have been the wrestler he was in WCW without the WWF gimmick.....so its all good in hindsight to say he was in the tag division and making inroads, but he would NEVER have made the same impact without the WWF gimmick
Mick Foley obviously didn't fit the format of WCW.....neither did Sabu, and he's a legendary wrestler in the hardcore realm....but Sabu never made it.....i guess its the luck of the draw or certain chair shots or jumps that you take that make you so legendary
The Radicals? Sheesh, you're stretching it there.......Saturn was used worse in the WWF than he was in WCW....didn't they make him talk to a mop for his gimmick? Eddy Gurrerro will always be a star wherever he goes but was only destined to be a cruiserweight in WCW because he simply wrestled too much in that div........same for Jericho but even i'd argue that he was taken more seriously in WCW and his character had more of an edge - now, with his contract negotiations on the line it sounds as if Fozzy is a better career option for him
Benoit = great wrestler and won the WCW title.....but that was only a token win because of the glass ceiling in the organisation......NEVER can work with a gimmick.....is a straight up wrestler............Oh and what about Malenko? The only thing the WWF did for this guy was drive him to an early retirement - he was better off in WCW
Big Show? You have got to be kidding me.......WCW got rid of him because he was as done as last nights dinner......seriously, he was smoking cigarettes for a gimmick - that's how much his status as 'The Giant' was nothing anymore......The Big Show is a below par wrestler and in the WWF has been nothing but an upper market version of all the other tall meatheads that Vince McMahon thinks are great for wrestling
LOL "stole"........yeah, contract negotiations are stealing right? So you stole Meng from WCW did you? Hhahahhahahahaha classic........3 of the greatest signings in wrestling history that changed the face of wrestling forever will be Hogan, Nash and Hall...........the WWF will NEVER have something like the nWo......NEVER....it was a revolutionary idea and cannot be duplicated nor done in any other way.....the nWo set the wrestling world on fire......now, the WWF only smoulders without any good ideas that would do the same....
