Songs that completely plagiarise other songs?

Why Don't You Get A Job? - Offspring. Just take Ob-la Dee Ob-la Dah - The Beatles and put in overdriven guitar and your own lyrics.

Watching Me - Rouge Traders. Complete rip-off of My Sharona - The Knack. They haven't even tried to disguise it!

George Harrison lost all royalties for 'My Sweet Lord' as a court ruled it was so similar to the Chiffons 'He's so fine'

A similar thing happened to Led Zeppelin with Whole lotta' love who settled out of court in favor of some old blues artist (Willy Dixon).

Offsprings' Get a job' (while being a horrendous song ) certainly was a monumental rip off of Ob-la Dee Ob-la Dah

The choruses of Stone Temple Pilots' Big Bang Baby and the Rolling Stones - Jumpin Jack Flash are very similar.

There is a song that has very recently come out (sorry for the vague description). It was made by some dj but he has done absolutely nothing to it except put a constant "duff duff" beat in it. Dead set, anybody who has listened to this will know this bloke has done nothing to warrant putting his name next to the title.

Sorry but i don't remember the song. Can't believe someone is making money from that crap...

there is a Pearl Jam song that is a blatant rip off of Led Zep's going to california.

But that Offspring one is the worst.

Most of these "rip offs" are done with the artists/record labels consent, and the "new" artist pays for the rights.

exception ....Phil Collins Su-su-sudio and Prince's 1999.

And that Jet song that lifts the riff from Iggy Pop's Lust for Life.

It's also possible that we have run out of combinations of chords, and we are destined to a future of re-birthed pop tunes, and endless covers

Nile "Unas Slayer of the Gods" steals it's main riff directly from Candlemass's "Gothic Stone". Both great songs though.

Most of the songs from Oasis have been a blatant rip off of their own....

If we're going to say that, AC/DC have been ripping off their own songs for three decades.

Have you ever heard "The Knacks" follow up to "My Sharona"?

Bloody diabolical. Sounds exactley the same as MS.

The Rogue Traders also ripped off 'Pump it Up' by Elvis Costello in 'Voodoo Child'. Pretty much every modern day rap artist has bastardised at least one song or another.

Today there is a term used to counteract the term "rip off".
It's called "sample".

Run DMC and Areosmith may to be blame for it all.
