Starlactic is going round in an $8,000 Open Handicap race at Lismore on Monday over 1000m with the huge weight of 67kg!!!!!

I have never heard of the horse before, but apparently its a QLD horse and has won over $275,000 in prizemoney....is its trainer trying to kill it?

Starlactic is a very quality Brisbane horse

i think it won 8 in a row or something similar at the end of 2005 and beginning of 2006. it then ran 2nd (?) to Natural Destiny in a group race

surely they wont run the horse. it's only for $5,000, unless they get the BOBS bonus of $5,000 too but still

and they'll have a light 50-ish kg jockey riding with approx 14kg of dead weight in the saddle. the horse is good but he'd have to be to win this race

That is a huge weight to be carrying in any race.
I'll be very inerested to see how he goes, and what the owners/trainer were expecting to see how much the horse got.....

Horses back in the day used to carry huge weights, Carbine carried 66kg's to win a melbourne Cup. These days horses get nowhere near the weights they used to get.
