i know the longest career ever was 26 years! it was by a Kicker tho.

That may have been George Blanda, who was a quarterback and a kicker, though he only kicked his last few years.

Other players who come to mind as playing a long time (going on memory, not looking it up):

Jim Otto, center, Raiders - 60s and 70s
Jimmy Johnson, corner, 49ers, 60s
Fred Biletnikoff, WR, Raiders, 60s-70s - played in Montreal of CFL after finishing with Raiders
Jackie Slater, OT, Rams - late 70s-early 90s

These may not have played as long as Moon or Rice, but played well into their late 30s.

In other Raiders legal news, I heard on TV that one of Al Davis's partners or ex-partners is suing Davis and trying to have him removed from his position with the Raiders.

heres more on the Big Billy story:

OAKLAND, Calif. (Oct. 23, 2003) -- Oakland Raiders linebacker Bill Romanowski was placed on injured reserve.

The 37-year-old Romanowski has missed the past four games after a series of concussions earlier in the season sidelined the 16-year veteran. He will remain with the Raiders for the rest of the season as a defensive adviser, coach Bill Callahan said.

"I don't think there's been a more dominant player than Bill at that position," Callahan said.

Romanowski, in his second season with the Raiders, has also played for Philadelphia, San Francisco and Denver.

Romanowski, who wasn't available for comment, doesn't intend to retire, Callahan said. If Romanowski retires before the end of the season, it would cause serious salary-cap problems for the Raiders.

Romanowski has had dozens of tests in recent weeks to determine his status, and doctors apparently advised him against returning to the field this season.

"I was still optimistic that the results would show he could possibly play," Callahan said. "But unfortunately, not."
