This council needs to be thrown out!!

http://www.realfooty.com.au/news/news/the-battle-for-blacktown/2008/03/07/1204780070802.html

The 13 guests were the men and women of the Blacktown Council and its executive. Led by Mayor Leo Kelly and his chief executive Ron Moore — a traditional rugby league man whose wife converted him to Australian football — the councillors listened to the presentation delivered by Demetriou and his team and then told them what the AFL had been hoping, and strongly suspecting, it would hear.

Blacktown, they said, was ready to go.

I think its time for an audit to be done on the members of this council. To see if there has been a spike in income or assets over the last few weeks.

Well done Blacktown Council - turn to an opposing sport which could alienate your citizens... and pick the time 6 months before local govt elections to do so

What a joke they are.

Dont just bitch about it on the forums. Everyone who lives in the area send them an email telling them how you dissagree with their decision & how you wont be voting for them come election time. Votes are the only things Polly's pay attention too.

Doesn't matter how many elected officials support AFL in Western Sydney.... the fans will vote with their feet.

I think the people of Blacktown would like thier council to bring as much money in as possible. If you think about it the AFL are going to spend 10's of Millions on the area, which is good for the local economy and industries.

It dosen't matter what we think, the AFL are moving into Western Sydney, Blacktown council just want the money to be spent on them.

If it dosen't work out for the AFL, Blacktown will end up with a fantastic facilitie to be used by the local community for decades to come.

Anyone who has ever been to Blacktown will know that they have no interest in AFL. The locals wont care, the trouble making kids in the area will probably vandilise it, or maybe more.

You can't blame a council for accepting millions of $'s to improve sporting facilities in their area!
