Blake Austin is a better 5/8 than Anthony Milford & Mitchell Moses

If you put Milford's height and weight into a BMI calculator it would say that he is an unhealthy fat prick but pretty much everyone on the planet would be considered unhealthy if they put there height and weight into it,nobody falls in the healthy category on that damn thing.

Brett Hodgson would!

Carving it up in the 20's and NSW/QLD Cup doesn't guarantee an immediate carve up in NRL as Milford is finding out. Barba even carved it up in his first year of NRL but now he's a lamb being led to slaughter. Pearce may have carved it up straight away had he not had to wait years to get a decent coach. It's all relative, Milford and Moses are a work in progress, not many players can be a Langer or as it's turning out, a Bird

Thread title isn't saying much. Milford is a fullback, a pretty solid one at that, and Moses is still very raw.

I'm quite happy the Tigers let go of Blake Austin. He's a nice player, but he's not really a half. I don't want someone at 5/8 who lacks a real kicking or passing game, and relies heavily on the show and go (which to his credit is effective). He's kind of a souped up Josh Reynolds, a stance I've maintained for a long time. Which is nice and all, but I question the impact of such players. I don't think Blake Austin will last long as a half in this league, it's not his position if the team wants to win a premiership.

Blake Austin to me is a perfect bench hooker, or even with more time a centre. However, his running game will get enough hype that he's paid well beyond his quality to be a half. In the end, he will be paid more than he provides on the field which means I'm not losing a sweat that the Tigers let him go. The Raiders/Tigers game just confirmed my feelings. Was for the most part very quiet and didn't really get his teammates involved.

Thread title not saying much huh? It said enough to spark a 10 page discussion in a stale section of the forum. Would you like to create a more thought provoking thread? The comparison is apt because of the rotation of clubs between the 3, and the fact they play the same position.

Austin is an out-and-out 5/8. But then again, I do like old school 5/8's. I can't believe anyone would say he should play hooker, centre or 2nd row. Ridiculous.

Last weekend again showed that Austin is the best of the 3. He capped off the weekend by being selected for City on the bench. It was well deserved, but he should be in the starting lineup.

LOL @ Broncos fans praising Milford's 5/8 development when he fielded a ball from pretty much the fullback spot, and busted a broken defensive line. Again, his running game is only suited to broken play.

Moses done nothing again except let 2 tries in. I don't see why he has so much hype surrounding him.

If I could have one of the three on my team then it'd be Milford. But if I had to pick one to play 5/8 then without even thinking I'd pick Austin. He's easily the best no.6 of the three at the moment.

Id take Milford or Moses because it's only short term pain for long term gain, while Austin is at his peak.

Austin isn't at his peak. He might be closer to it than Milford but he still has plenty to do to hit his peak.

Moses is still living on potential, could be a star, but plenty of players like him have failed before. I hope not because he seems to work well with the other Tiger cubs.

Austin is a very underrated player. He always looked good in the jnrs at Penrith and with the Tigers. I wish he was a Shark.

Seems funny he doesn't want to be a 13 as it seems like his natural position. If he can calm down and cut the erratic plays he can come up with he should get that utility spot for the Blues once Lewis fades away.

Reminds me a bit of Anasta, and might turn out like him. Anasta was best in the back row, even if he didn't want to admit it.

Milford is a decent fullback despite the weak last line of defence he provides. He's a great runner in broken play.

But Moses, I agree with your previous comment regarding him.

Do not worry to much about Moses, at present he is playing to the coaches instructions while they try and bed down Taylor's structures. 90% of the play is been directed down Brook's side of the ruck. Anyway I have no doubt the kid will be the best of the three of them down the track.

In saying the above every team needs a Blake Austin, massive competitor, big ticker and has plenty of skill, although do let him kick. As for Milford not sure where he will end up, strikes me as another Barba type player

The fat kid that would have every Raiders fan jerking off into each others mouths with joy if he ever returned to the Raiders or never left.

He isn't even playing good. Austin has been much better this year and I think Wightons a better FB as well.

As a NSW traitor I don't want Austin or Jack Bird playing Origin . . . I want a fit Cronk and Thurston to have no trouble reading the oppositon

Maybe before the season started. But both Austin and Wighton are playing better and more consistent than Milford ever has.

So no, I don't want him back.
