Bledisloe Cup

Bugs nor banter can better these blokes.

If it wasn't listening devices, it was the barbs of Wallaby coach Michael Cheika being aimed at the All Blacks this week. None were able to knock them off their stride, as they responded the way they have done so many times before.

The final score from ANZ Stadium of New Zealand 42, Australia 8 doesn't really do the victors justice. Their win was so complete and so convincing that it should crush whatever confidence the Wallabies came into the Rugby Championship with.

Cheika might be combative, but his team aren't, and the chances of them keeping the Bledisloe Cup series alive by winning in Wellington next Saturday look very bleak indeed.

New Zealand 42 (Ryan Crotty, Beauden Barrett, Jerome Kaino, Waisake Naholo, Dane Coles, Julian Savea tries; Barrett 3 con, 2 pen) Australia 8 (Nick Phipps try; Bernard Foley pen). HT: 32-3. Crowd: 65,328.

plus....

Australian police are investigating a suspicious "electronic device" found at the All Blacks team hotel in Sydney but say they only became aware of the matter via a media report five days after it was originally found.

It is understood a sophisticated listening device was found in the All Blacks' team room at their Intercontinental Double Bay hotel on Monday ahead of the Bledisloe Cup opener on Saturday.

New Zealand Rugby (NZR) said in a statement that an investigation was underway, after the device was found in a team meeting room.

"A listening device was found in a meeting room this week during a routine security check," NZR chief executive Steve Tew said.

"The hotel immediately launched an investigation, we have informed the Australian Rugby Union, and jointly we have now decided to hand over the investigation to the Australian police.

"We are taking this issue very seriously, and given it will be a police matter, it would not be prudent to go into further details."

The sophisticated device - described as similar to that used by law enforcement and spying agencies - had been planted in a chair in the hotel where the team have been staying since Sunday, NZME reported.

Emptied the bench too, though given the bench quality that shouldn't make too much difference.

Yeah. One of the key aspects of the All Blacks success is the quality of the bench players coming on. Now some of those bench players (Crotty, Barrett, Cane) are out there and we need the new blokes to rise up.

Quade is pretty average. Like Folau, has never really played to his potential against the AB's

I like Quade...

Ive always felt that his biggest problem was that he was enabled early on by QLD Rugby and was pushed far too quickly instead of dealing with the huge holes in his game early on.

Ewan McKenzie picking him for the Reds and having him defend at fullback was great in the short term... They won a Super Rugby title... But they did nothing for him in the long term...

He's always been afraid of contact... In fact goes out of his way to avoid it if possible... If you check the tape on some of his biggest errors... They nearly all come from him wanting to avoid contact...

Wow plenty of action in here.
When your only highlight is a long range penalty goal you're f**ked.

There's no problem with the amount of action/tries in the Rugby Championship.... apart from the fact that the All Blacks score most of them. The ABs scored 32 tries during the tournament, the other three sides combined scored 29. South Africa only scored 8, one less than the ABs scored in a single match against them.
To be fair it would actually be a pretty competitive and even tournament if NZ weren't a couple of levels better than any other side in the world right now (or ever really). NZ won every one of their matches by an average margin of 30 points, South Africa only scored 30 points in a match once all tournament, Argentina didn't manage it at all.

The ABs are like "are you a superstar?" and then you look average along with your team from there on.

In saying that I think Folau is the worlds best fullback. Just average or slightly above when hes playin against the ABs.

A predictable result unfortunately... the game just doesn't have the organisation, the numbers or the players that it does in NZ.
