HIGH profile rugby league player agent George Mimis has slammed rumours client Anthony Watmough wants out of the premiers.

It’s no secret Watmough is not a happy-chappy after the club fined him $10,000 for an altercation with sponsor Paul Durazza at Manly’s season launch this month.

The Watmough camp claim he did nothing wrong at the ill-fated function.

Rumours have been sweeping the beaches that the Narrabeen junior wants out.

But while “Choc” isn’t talking, Mimis declared:

“Absolute rubbish,” when asked if his man will break his deal which ends next year.

Tooves rumour mill
COUPLE of rumours about Manly assistant coach Geoff Toovey just won’t go away.

Rumour No.1:

He will take over as the Sea Eagles CEO when Grant Mayer’s time is up.

Rumour No. 2:

The Belrose Eagles are interested in his playing services for the 2009 A Grade premiership.

“Now that you mentioned it, I might try and chase it up and see if he wants to play,” Belrose coach Kieran Dempsey said.

We have been reliably told both rumours are simply that ... rumours.

Open-door Des
IT was a strange sight this week when Manly coach Des Hasler opened up with the media, holding one-on-one sessions with all and sundry.

Perhaps the premiership-winning coach is attempting to take some of the heat off his players? Hopefully the players will open up and have a chat about their first win of the season on Monday night.

Judicious judiciary
DUMPED NRL judiciary member Darrell Williams may pull the pin on a return to the panel.

Williams, judiciary chairman Greg Woods and Royce Ayliffe have been stood down by the NRL after taking defamation action against the Melbourne Storm in the Supreme Court.

“I’d have to reconsider my position,” Williams told us. “I’ll have to see how it pans out.”

Ringside whistler
NRL referee Steve Lyons must have been tempted to jump into the ring to blow his whistle during John Hopoate’s fight at Manly Leagues last week.

Lyons was an interested onlooker, having a drink with ex-Manly winger Craig Hancock.
